Anyone else pulling for North Carolina to lose today? Don't know if Butch Davis was ever offered the job or not, but now I pull for them to lose! Glad we got Kiffin over Davis anyway!

Well, what I heard, and 99% of it was on this board, was that Davis was interested in the UT job, but the sticking point was his "title", and who he would answer to...

That smacks of somebody who's interested in more than winning football games. Not what this program needs.

I think we got it right with Kiffin, and I think time will prove this to have been a very wise move. I also think Kiffin will be winning SEC titles, and more, at UT long after BD has moved on to another program, and is winning 8 or 9 games a year, and playing bowl games in Charlotte, Orlando, and Nashville.

Go Vols.

Yes because I picked WVU to win in the bowl contest on here. :) I have nothing against Butch or UNC. If you are glad we hired Kiffin anyway, why the animosity towards them? I don't get that.

31-30 WV. 8 wins for NC beats 7 combined the last 2 years tho. Butch oughta be ok in the Tarheel State for a few more years.

Yeah, but if you flip the table around.....

Davis knows the UT job was maybe his, if he would have checked his ego. He didn't, and we get Kiffin. Butch is stuck (for now) at a basketball school, where he will always play second fiddle to the basketball coach, and program. Kiffin inherited a program that puts 100k plus in their stadium on Saturdays, has great facilities, great tradition, and football is king.

If Davis stays at UNC (and I don't think he will for more than two more years. His interest in the UT job told me that), he can be competitive in the ACC. He'll do well. At a basketball school.

We needed more, and better. I think we got it.

Go Vols.

I don't like either team so I'm just glad somebody lost. What a killer for the UNC fans though! Dang, I felt bad for them. It's easier to take a loss when it's not that close.

I am sort of getting sick of hearing ESPN saying over and over again about the ACC having 10 bowl teams this year like it is such a great conference. If they go 3-7 or 2-8 then we will know what a great conference they are. Afterall, it is not like they play anybody in the ACC.

bottom line, great game, and you cant argue against a guy that went from 4-8 to 8-4, well 8-5 with this loss. He'll do good things in Carolina..

I have nothing against Davis at UNC. And being a Browns fan, I believe I have more to be upset at him about than anyone else on here.

Yep, he was offered and turned down the oringal offer and then MH turned down the counter offer. He was my choice.... I hope he loses every game he coaches!

That's stupid. Will you also be pulling for Tampa Bay to lose from now on? Both coaches had their reasons for turning down the job. I'm happy with Coach Kiffin, and I have no animosity toward anyone who may have turned down the job.

I was definitely impressed with his throwing accuracy today....I wonder if he wished he had gone to a more pro-style offense, looking back. I see a Kordell Stewart/ Randle El position in the league in his future.
