The NCAA (which means the universities, collectively) completely lost control of amateurism. But they haven't lost, no one has even mentioned trying to take it from them, the student-athlete requirement.
To play for a college, you have to be in college. To be in college, you have to take a certain number of courses and hold a certain grade point average.
Nothing in all the NIL upheaval has even come close to touching any of that. And if you think the colleges and universities are just gonna give it up, think again.
Unlike amateurism, this truly does go to the core of the universities' reason for existence.
