Anyone else feel this way about Nico?

I wonder if his folks know they screwed him or if they are defiantly holding onto the beleif that they are right. I also wonder if they deeply apologized would CJH take him back next year if he were to reach out.
Never would take the risk of taking him back. I think the locker room would revolt

Leaving was bad enough. Leaving after the school went out on a limb and took the NCAA to court to enable you to make ANY money is many times worse.
UT risked severe NCAA punishment for taking a chance on Nico. That to me just stunk of ingratitude more than anything else.
And the timing of it made it even worse. The time for threatening to walk over money was after the bowl game; not Spring ball

I wish him the best, unless we play them, or them losing helps us. I'm over it. His father is an idiot, and Nico is suffering the consequences. I hope some NFL front office sees something, he is drafted, and flourishes.

It's just hard to hate on a 20 year old kid who is following the lead of his dad.

Again, unless we play UCLA, or them losing helps us, I wish him success.

I don't necessarily feel bad for him (he was paid good money), but not angry necessarily. I had a feeling we would be better off once we let him go. I didn't expect our offense to look as good as it did (I was expecting 2024 redux). Granted, it is just 1 game and we have 11 more to go in the regular season.

I want to play UCLA again and it has nothing to do with Nico. I still hold a grudge for those 2008 and 2009 losses to them. They were unacceptable IMO. Just like Pittsburgh in 2021 left a bad taste in my mouth (we shouldn't have lost to Pitt in Knoxville).

I thought Kiffin had a decent 2009 year but the Auburn and UCLA losses that year were head scratchers; especially since both were in Knoxville. To me, the loss feels even worse when it is at home.

I’m not even mad anymore, I feel sorry for him. Serious question: how much of his money do you think he even sees? How many people are mooching off him? He reminds me of a child actor surrounded by vultures- people who are supposed to love him- giving him the worst advice.

And for those who say, “He’s in his 20s; he’s a grown man!” true, but in some cultures, obeying your parents is paramount and rarely questioned. I feel like we’re watching a train wreck, and it’ll only get worse week by week.

Am I too soft?

I agree with you 💯

you're too soft! 😋

"It’s no fun piling on players. It just isn’t. But there’s no way to properly articulate how much of a dumpster fire the Nico Iamaleava situation turned into for him. We all had a pretty good idea he hurt himself when he left Tennessee and wound up at UCLA, but watching the Bruins get their heads beat in late Saturday night was a tough watch….. So let’s get this straight: Iamaleava is making way less at UCLA, has less talent around him and is playing in time slots nobody is going to watch? Say what you want about the system at Tennessee — which has been a hot-button topic the past two weeks — Iamaleava’s situation got demonstrably worse in every single way. And on top of that, you have a bunch of NIL-resenting college football fans hate watching you. Yikes."

If he wasn’t complicit and entitled, I’d feel bad for him because of the idiots leading him. But from what I’ve read, he’s a real d@&$e away from football. So, no, I don’t feel that bad for him.

Especially ironic that his dad apparently was demanding improvements to the Vols‘ OL. Now instead of being protected behind 4 and 5 stars, he is dropping back behind a UCL OL that leaks like a sieve.
That is really sad when you think about it. The kids isn’t just risking financial future but his physical well being too

Nico really needed the money. Can you imagine how much it costs to support a family of 3,000.? Big Nic and Nico were visiting a school on a bye week last year. Saturday was pure gold, all the way around. There may at have been at least 30,000 in that stadium and Nico hasn’t improved at all.

I will never wish any ill will on anyone ever but I won’t be upset at all if he struggles… I was one of his biggest supporters here but he made a decision that he has to live with… I know Joey is thanking Nico every day lol…funny how life had a way of working itself out that way… Nico took everything for granted that Joey is humble for… I’m excited to have Joey because he has the potential to take this offense to a complete new level, much more than Nico ever would have.

Nico is a multi-millionaire! Who did not even deserve it. Boo hoo. He put the spotlight on himself and now does not want it now? Too late. I am going to have fun rooting against him. I would rather have fun rooting for more humble and grateful quarterbacks who did not receive the red carpet treatment and did MORE to be great or have great moments. I root for Nico to learn lessons and grow as an individual. I am not going to root for Nico's dad to have a better Rolex next season. If they blew the millions then it is on them. Sometimes great things deserve to happen to more grateful people and I believe Joey is way more grateful than Nico for this opportunity. Go UNLV. This is coming from someone who also rooted very hard for Nico when I assumed he was all Vol.
