I think real grass does LOOK better. And should be at least as safe as the artificial stuff. Way safer than the old artificial turf.
As for performance. Since both teams play on the same field it shouldn't matter.

The grounds crew is going to be in for a long offseason. The field has looked pretty bad most of the year. Not sure I'm ready to go the turf route, but if they can't fix it this offseason....it's time.

I will always love grass as it's traditional, but after playing on turf for a few years, I absolutely love it. Cons and pros for both, but turf really is amazing to play on.

knee and ankle injuries tend to happen when someone gets their leg rolled upon, hit while planting etc.

I didn't know "magic turf" prevented those.
