Anyone catch Josh Dobbs on Finebaum?

Hmmm, I don’t recall seeing Big Ben out for the season in either of Dobbs’ 2 years there. Not the same “shot”.

Agreed. Also you have at least 3 QBs that are clones of Dobbs executing the RPO offense in the NFL in the playoffs, Lamar Jackson is likely 2019 MVP.

Just think what he could of been with a good QB coach like coach Cut and a true strength coach ? I met him at the spring game his last year he really wasn't that big . Could have been a real Heisman hopeful JMO.

I live here in Jax. We are an absolute dumpster fire right now. January 2nd is my oldest daughter’s birthday. I need to find a way to get her an autograph and picture with JD (her favorite Vol) at the Gator Bowl. Hope he will be around?
He said he'd be there. Good luck with the autograph. JD is a class act & wonderful representative of the University of Tennessee.

Saban uses resiliency more than Butch ever could or did.

Glad to see a Vols fan post that shows someone understands that not everything revolves around Butch. He also used "the" often and that's no reason to hate an English article just because Butch uttered it. There are times our fans seem to deserve the ridicule heaped on us by other fanbases. Fortunately, not all of us are as brain dead as some make it appear. Thanks for the post, Rem.

Dobbs was the reason for much of our success during his time that wasn't recognized while he was here. Great player and VFL that really represents Tennessee so well.
Really? Uh, no. Dobbs abilities have pretty much been recognized as the only thing that made Butch look like he had any idea what he was doing.

It looks like D4H has infected a lot of people since the Steelers traded Dobbs.

He lost the #2 slot to Rudolph in the preseason, before Roethlisberger was hurt. He had extended playing time in all 3 preseasons with the Steelers. He played last season against the Raiders when Roethlisberger was hurt and was horrible. The Jags seem to also believe he's a 3rd string QB. Maybe he just isn't an NFL starting QB.

He lost the #2 slot to Rudolph, who lost his job to a third string quarterback. Sometimes NFL teams are wrong. We'll never know if Dobbs could have been better than Rudolph. He never got the chance.

Heads up for anyone interested. Josh will be speaking in Memphis in January at Bellevue Church at the Men's conference. I'm going and wearing orange and I've talked to several other Vol fans who will be there. I think there is a small cost and its like a Friday night and Saturday morning kind of thing.

Yeah I never understood folks' problem with that word. It's a word. It means something.

Out of all the things Butch Jones did/said, to complain about 'resiliency'? It wasn't like he used the word wrong.

Anyway...

I feel bad for Dobbs. The Jags traded for him from Pittsburgh who then lost their starting QB. Meanwhile, the Jags rookie backup ends up having a pretty good season and Dobbs gets lost in translation. I find it odd he hasn't had a starting shot yet when there are so many no name QBs this year taking the field.

'Resiliency' has become just an over-used term in sports right now, much like 'physicality' was for a while prior to that. Once a word gets out there it becomes ho hum to hear it because it has become part of the sports lexicon.

How bout "trick-er- ration"???

The word resiliency in itself isn't actually a bad thing. Problem lies with the people using the word. If Butch Jones use the word ice cream all the time I would still like ice cream not so much butch LOL

I still believe they should retire his number. I know he may not have all the numbers, but there's no way we win all those games without him under BJ. He was a great student athlete and is a great ambassador fo the school.

He got his shot for a couple of years there and didn't demonstrate enough to keep ahead of Rudolph. He's a great kid but that doesn't mean he's a NFL caliber QB.
The Ravens success might change that. The mobile QB vs. pocket passer is back in vogue.

If Hurd hadn't flaked on us, we would have beaten USC and gone to ATL and maybe further. Kamara really came on strong in the late season and we were clicking. As far as I know I've never heard of a college player just quitting on his team in mid-season.

I just got a email from the University that says he is hosting the tailgate from 3-5 at the Expo Center. My son went to one of his camps here in Chattanooga last summer and had a blast. Also got to get a picture with Jennings. Both gentlemen are high on his list of favorite vols!

Maybe it was Dobbs that liked to use resiliency and Butch stole it from him.
