I left game at end of 3rd, was listening in car when Watson scored that short td. It happened right after a commercial, and as they came back, it sounded like Bobby Denton calling the TD in the background, but Kesling described a 10 yard run by Watson to the 2, and then the team lining up quickly and making the score. 2 plays in 10 seconds or so. I'm betting they were late coming back from commercial and missed the 2 plays, and instead of saying "oops", tried to make it sound live. To quote "My Cousin Vinny", does my case hold water? Wouldn't really be Bob's fault, more so that of the producer, but I'm curious.

Sometimes I wonder if Bob hits the bar with Margie Ison(sp?) before calling the game.

The OP is correct. The Vol Network often comes back to live action late after commercial breaks. Bob has to make up time by calling a couple of quick plays to catch up.

How do you listen to him during the game. In the days of Ward, that was a great combination, but now, I'd rather have no commentary at all if Bob is the only option. Calling Mike Keith.

I can't stand listening to Bob for one minute. In his defense though I probably would be saying that about anyone following Ward.

Anyone have a transcript of Tim Priest's on air meltdown last year after the refs initially blew the call on the Eric Gordon play against Vanderbilt?

Kesling, I think, and I've said on here before, sucks at calling Vols Football Games. I think he does a good job at calling Lady Vols Basketball & that's where it ends with me. It's just MHO. To me, they just gave that job to him without a search for a better voice. I think they would be better off with Ron Franklin from ESPN calling the football games or someone who has no peanut butter in the mouth when trying to call a game.

Harbourvol is correct. I was at the game listening on the radio. They did come back late from the commercial. They did make the next play sound like it was live and it had already happened.

I remember watching a game about 10 years ago that Bob called. Someone was kicking a field goal and missed it wide, and Bob says, "and it's good........wait............he may have missed it." At the time I nearly peed in my pants laughing. That being said, I think he's a good guy with a great radio voice.

Ever heard John Ward's call of the end of the "miracle at South bend"????

Wow we have a double standard around here!
