nashville sports radio is terrible. aside from the morning 104.5 zone with wycheck, howard, and kevin.

here is the breakdown:
you have 106.7 - that has 2 yanks (minnesotta, PA) and an that ididot Thom Abraham talking about bama and his days coaching meaningless d2 football.
then you have 104.5 the zone wich is 2 vandy grads and a uk fan. all they talk about is hockey and baseball and titans. BUT at least they have doug matthews on friday
then you have the am station that has bill king and biddle. they never have guest all they have is small mike calling in bashing fulmer and people calling in to either disagree or agree. thats is 24/7 365 nothing more. if fulmer did get fired i presume the show would go under.

Well said besides the Wakeup Zone in the mornings on 104.5, there isn't much. That is why I miss Brent, Duncan and Conn's show that was on in the afternoons on 1510.

Yeah he is a idiot too. He lost me when he said we would beat florida. He's delusional also.

We can beat Florida (not saying we will) if we improve a little particularly at QB which is highly possible. I would not count us out especially based on the wild season we had last year.

Don't forget that on Monday & Friday mornings at 6:30 on 104.5 we get Jimmy H. to talk UT football for about 15 minutes. I know those in Knoxville seem to not like him all that much but for UT only discussion it is a breath of fresh air on Nashville radio.

104.5 tries to be to much in their coverage and you miss the harder details of a particular team unless it is the Titans. I do enjoy the Silly Underdog Picks on Tuesday afternoons because they have Al Dorsey and he will comment on UT after their picks.

The fact that King is still on the air with the type of show he puts on should tell people that there is a market for the P.O.V. he pushes/allows to be pushed on his program. Some of the other talk radio folks in Nashville will talk smack about the Vols coaching staff, but then when they get a chance to interview one of the coaches it's all candy and sunshine. Then they spend the rest of the show explaining how it would've been a waste of time to ask the hard questions because they would've just gotten lame, canned responses and probably burned a bridge in the process. Other than Duncan's show, which I usually turn for an hour on as I am trying to go to sleep, I do not listen to any of them regularly but I am glad that there is a little bit of variety when it comes to UTK discussions.

velovol, I usually do listen to Coach Matthews but on Sat (kickoff show) and Sunday (Big Orange Sunday). I did not know he is on Fridays but I will check for it. Also, Barnhart's show is on Saturday afternoons on 104.5 now. I did not catch it last week but hope to in the future.

Hyams extent of his sports knowledge is SEC football.

it's all he's good for.

I was grouping him in with the morning show
He is my favorite vol commentator along with Matthews.
I dont think he wears orange glass and is hard when he needs to be hard.
The worst is Bryan Mullen btw.

Never heard of the guy. If his name is any indication then I've already heard too much.

yep, it only took him about 12 years to be correct
Hmmm... 12 years. You could have made an argument that after the the 2001 debacle (with LSU's back up QB), getting beat by Maryland in ATL, and again the following year by an overrated Tommy Bowden, that Fulmer should have been put on notice after the Clemson loss and three consecutive years of frustrating season endings... and fired right after 2005's 5-6 season.

After the last 2-3 weeks, I wouldn't even go that far. Hyams has really disappointed me (not that I had too much faith in most of the local guys to begin with) in his coverage of even UT sports, muchless SEC.

He's halfway being facetious. You know that there is a lot of football left to play, and we've seen this script play out far too many times before. Just when we are ready to count Fulmer out, they guy goes out and pulls the unthinkable (Miami in 2003, Arkansas last year)...

This guy is good for losing/blowing a game he shouldn't and winning a game he shouldn't. It is maddening and frustrating.

This is probably the only thing we'll ever agree on.

fine we'll use your timeframe of 2001.

It only took him 5-6 years to get it right. He was spewing the same ignorant garbage in the mid 90's too.

2004 was, for the most part, a pretty good job by CPF.

Beating UF and UGA, breaking in a new QB, actually having a run game, etc. They just weren't as good as Auburn.

Not taking anything away from Fulmer and the staff in 2004... It's the raise/extension he was given by Hamilton in the week before the Peach Bowl loss to Clemson and the collapse in 2005 that irratates me the most. Had Hamilton not given Fulmer that raise/extension, he may not have felt compelled to keep him after 2005 (because of the length of his contract and buyout). But then again, that is just wishful thinking, probably. :cray:

That guy has become a wooly Kiffin sheep... he told Basilio he would give Kiffin 5 years before he would call for his head...

He drove me crazy; oversized ego and mouth, irrational as all get-out. How John and Jimmy tolerated him as well as they did is a magnificent show of restraint. Didn't Elvis used to shoot his TV to show displeasure with a program?
