I can't ever remember it happening. I understand why they did it, but it's not a conventional decision at all.
Have I mentioned how boneheaded I thought it was for them not to run the option on the 2 pt conversion try?
They ran a toss sweep on the two point conversion try.We did it against South Carolina in the early '90s when they had that long haired hippy QB names Steve Taneyhill(sp.). As far as it happening against us, I have never seen it(doesn't mean it hasn't happened).
I think it was a good decision and they had the right play called. You don't want to go into OT on the road at #11 Tennessee. They had been getting at least 3 yds. a play with the option, so I don't see why they would have called anything else.
i was at that game...man did that suck.In '93 David Palmer lined up at quarterback for us and scrambled his way in for the 2 point conversion as time was running out. It was for the tie instead of the win though. I do wonder what Coach Stallings would have done if we were only down by 1 at the time. I would like to think he would have gone for it.
it was the 2nd time that day a two point conversion was used in an attempt to win the game in final seconds...Akron's try, however, worked as they beat NCSU on a two point conversion to end the game.
now, i wasn't happy Saturday night....but i would had to be an NCSU fan this week....ouch.
yep, you're right...thanks....Actually state had scored with about a minute left to go ahead 17-14. Akron came roaring back and went for a touchdown on the last play of the game instead of kicking a chip shot field goal to tie. On a running play, no less. The final score was 20-17.
Whatever, it was still a heck of a gamble that paid off. I imagine NCSU coach Amato is in hot water for blowing that lead. State fans have a notoriously low eye for a very high fence.
