the last time a team went for 2 for the win against us?

I can't ever remember it happening. I understand why they did it, but it's not a conventional decision at all.

Have I mentioned how boneheaded I thought it was for them not to run the option on the 2 pt conversion try?

If I was an AF fan, I would not have a problem with the play they ran. We had not stopped much of anything they were running, so I did not think it was that bad of a play call.

I've been wrong before...I missed the PF show.

When was the last time we went the entire game without punting?

Not the answer to your question, but....

In 1992, Johnny Majors called for the 2-point conversion to go for the win on the road against SEC newcomer South Carolina. The 16th rated Vols didn't get it and lost 23-24. It was the Vols 3rd straight loss after being rated as high as 4th and ultimately cost Majors his job.

1992 was the first season that included the SEC Championship Game. The Vols had already beaten Florida and Georgia and were leading the SEC East (head-to-head tie-break). However, a tie would have dropped the Vols a half game below Florida, while the win would have kept them in the lead to play in the inaugural SECCG.

it was the 2nd time that day a two point conversion was used in an attempt to win the game in final seconds...Akron's try, however, worked as they beat NCSU on a two point conversion to end the game.

now, i wasn't happy Saturday night....but i would had to be an NCSU fan this week....ouch.

We did it against South Carolina in the early '90s when they had that long haired hippy QB names Steve Taneyhill(sp.). As far as it happening against us, I have never seen it(doesn't mean it hasn't happened).

I think it was a good decision and they had the right play called. You don't want to go into OT on the road at #11 Tennessee. They had been getting at least 3 yds. a play with the option, so I don't see why they would have called anything else.

They ran a toss sweep on the two point conversion try.

Air Force scored with 1:35 on the clock. UT had at least 2 T.O.s left. Even had AF converted, I doubt they would have stopped our offense from getting into FG range, if not scoring a TD.

I was thinking sweep and typed option. Oh well, no one is perfect.

If AF would have went up one all we would have had to do was get in FG range. It would have taken a couple of Ainge to Meachem passes and the game would have been over.

let's just say i'm glad it didn't come to that, and i'm glad they called the play they called....

let's not be mistaken, we were fortunate Saturday night. We played well enough to win on offense, but at the end, we were fortunate about the play call on the 2pt conversion, and the illegal procedure call on the onsides kick....

i'm not going to give it back or anything, and a w is a w is a w....but i think everyone is glad that game is just behind us now, and we lost two defensive starters in the process...fortunate.

In '93 David Palmer lined up at quarterback for us and scrambled his way in for the 2 point conversion as time was running out. It was for the tie instead of the win though. I do wonder what Coach Stallings would have done if we were only down by 1 at the time. I would like to think he would have gone for it.

Actually state had scored with about a minute left to go ahead 17-14. Akron came roaring back and went for a touchdown on the last play of the game instead of kicking a chip shot field goal to tie. On a running play, no less. The final score was 20-17.

Whatever, it was still a heck of a gamble that paid off. I imagine NCSU coach Amato is in hot water for blowing that lead. State fans have a notoriously low eye for a very high fence.
