Anybody else leaving/getting fired?

You're just too rational 6! Lol but you have to at least agree we need an upgrade at Defensive Backs. Our DBs have not developed and they are playing poor fundamental football. They never turn their heads around to look for the ball or put themselves in a position to make a play. They honestly look like they are lost out there and are not schematically sound. When I see an opposing QB throw a deep ball with one-on-one coverage I know it's almost certainly going to be pass interference or a completion.
Yeah I do get that. There were several time that happened this year. Whats concerning to me is the fact that Shoop is so involved with the secondary and this is still an issue. Im wondering if its the type of players we are recruiting. Im hoping that Shoop may help with player evaluation for his syle and that be were you see the difference. Thats if we indeed stick with martinez.

According to a member of Steve Stripling's family, he will be gone soon as well. The comment made was that Butch was a very hard person to work for.

He's just taking a different position but will still Ben at UT per my source

You've been pretty opinionated in regards to UT coaching staff. How would you feel about Hoke at DL? What would you think of a Larry Scott/Weinke or Dorsey Co-OC combo? Walt Wells at OL? And Barlow or Fair at DB?

Expect more changes after the coaches Convention. Bob Shoop has already been in contact with Coach Barlow from NC State. The guy coached DBs with Shoop at Vandy. The only snag is his buyout at NC State. We will have to wait and see how the other coaching changes effects the budget which i think is around 1.6mil. As far as offensive line, we have a guy on staff we will likely promote. Guy has tons of Oline experience. Dont know his name off the top of my head tho.

The coaches convention in Nashville is normally when things start to happen.

buTch has a puzzle to put together and that's where he'll find the rest of the pieces, get contract numbers together so all the contracts can get finalised.

STOP with the garbage that we don't have a AD!!!

Hart is still our AD and he's still on the job and he sets the budget and gets the contracts done.

buTch got Shoop $1 Million from AD Hart so do NOT be surprised if buTch needs more $$$ that AD Hart will allow it especially if a couple of calls to big donors gets it taken care of fast.

The right people for the right positions will get the donars excited and off their checkbook.

I would also bet that with the HUGE $$$ buyout and a new incoming AD that buTch will get at least 2 more seasons to prove what he can get put together no matter how much whining is dome here on VN so don't be surprised after next season if buTch is still here.

VFL...GBO!!!

voted worst fans for a reason.

the only ones laughing are vol fans.., well 98% are.

some of the comments on other sites from vol fans are just...wow.

no hot seat this year. ..don't mean it isn't very warm.

must show a good/great coached/disciplined team next season.

if not...

I'm military and I'm the only Tennessee fan in the office. We have Bammers, Barners, Buckeyes, Irish, Wolverines, USCw, Cuse, and Hokies. If you really think 98% of those laughing are just Vols fans, you need to get out of the state more. I put up with it every day.

I'm concerned that Butch has openly engaged the OC search, but we have not heard anything about DB or OL replacements. I understand with DeBord leaving and it being public knowledge there was no way to hide it. I just do not understand the wait and why it would be important to wait until after NSD on those replacements. It makes me think there will not be a change made. If Butch examines our program and he cannot see that we need help in the DB and OL departments then he has bigger problems.

I think replacing them would only enhance our recruiting, not hurt it. I believe any recruits on the fence or considering flipping want to know who their position coach will be, especially if they have the feeling that their current position coach will be fired. If we drag it out and they feel uncertain then I would not be surprised to see numerous commits flip on NSD. We need to hire upgrades now and finish this class strong.

It's just a messy situation when we have no AD, a head coach on the hot seat, and rumors all over the place with staff changes. What undecided or wavering recruits are going to want to sign up for that? I hope we have some movement after the AFCA Conference this weekend.

Volquest repeatedly brought up Martinez yesterday and said possibly by this weekend. They still think closers to signing day. His on field results are horrid. Foreman plays with a ton of effort just my opinion. Enter teaching he could be more consistent and very solid. Secondly who has Martinez recruited and locked up that been Elite. Vol questions eluded to fact only 2 to 3 coaches are pulling the load in terms of recruiting at high level butch being one i think writing on Wall for this one and strip is suppose to retire

Ugh, I would be against promoting anyone that had anything to do with the performance of our Online the last 3 years

I am with you! I don't know if CBJ is the answer or not. I am grateful that we are back in the national conversation again. NOW, we just need to average 10 win seasons and take shots AND get NC #7!!!

JG said that he would consider his career a success when them wins 2-3 SEC championships AND a NC. Losing is not an option next year. UT can do this. Jones just needs to get his head out of his ass.
