This story is true, one of my co-workers who goes to Vol forums said he read this last night so it's gotta be true.

have heard that Gruden has signed an 8yr 40.5 mil contract....take it for what its worth...

Gruden can't decide how many years he wants to coach here for or how much money he wants to make. He's torn between 6 yrs at $30mil, 8 yrs at $55mil, 10yrs at $60mil and now 8yrs for $40mil. So it's safe to say he may or may not sign a contract for 5-10 yrs for maybe or maybe not $30mil-$60 mil.

Deal is done, announcement Monday.

Deal is done, announcement Tuesday.

Deal is done, announcement Nov. 30th.

Deal is done announcement Dec. 1st.

Eventually someone will guess right.

Granted it could be Kirby Smart is announced on Dec. 15th as well.

I'll believe it when Dave Hart announces it! Until then, it is just rumor or heresay. However, it is fun to speculate as long as nobody, other than Dave Hart, is putting it out there as absolute FACT!

I will start this by saying that I do not have a high post count, which does not help me in the credibility stand point, but I had a very important (trustworthy) former athlete and alum of Tennessee come in today to my office. We always talk Tennessee football, and the first words out of his mouth were "Gruden is a done deal." We had just spoken about the firing a week or so ago and he mentioned that he was making a trip to Knoxville to see his coach with some other members of the team.

I didnt want to go into detail, because I didn't feel it was my business on how he felt so certain. But I did breath a sigh of relief when he left.

Take it for what its worth.

Sure. I heard that. I also heard he would announce yesterday during MNF, after the UK game, etc. Getting tired of all these stupid morons pumping up everybody's hopes when we all know we're going to get stuck with Al Golden or Sonny Dykes.

The donors are pouring a lot of money to hire Al Golden or Sonny Dykes. Please. The AD is all in on Gruden with the money that has been freed up by the school and the money the donors are going to put in. I don't know if it's Gruden but it's going to be a big hire with the money that is being offered by the big money guys.

It makes sense the announcement would come by the end of this month and the fact that all the "connected" media folks are talking about how unusually quiet this search has been so far with regards to leaks all while so many other prominent SEC programs are clearly on their own HC hunt simultaneously, conceivably targeting some of the same targets as we would be looking at, it just feels/sounds to me like Hart already has his pick locked down. Some media are still saying that we are in the early stages of our search, which I am sure would be their assumption when they are hearing little to nothing from their "sources" regarding the progress.

All this gives me hope that if its not Gruden it's another big name and Hart is waiting to announce at the most strategically advantageous time for our program.

This is my hope and prayer this time around. Go Vols!

I think you are 100 percent correct. No way we pool all this money together to go and grab someone like Golden or even Strong. It WILL be a big name.
