I know he hasn't taken the field yet, but if the best prospect in the state, and the third prospect in the state have already picked us this early, who can doubt that this class will only get better?

I seriously believe this can be the best class in UT history by the time it's done with.

Great job locking down two HUGE priorities Butch!

Already was, and always was. Guys that win conference titles 4 times in 6 years are aces in my book. Taking those guys and handing them SEC resources usually means good things happen.

I know I'll take heat for this, but remember this post if you go 7-5 this year and get beat by double digits at Oregon, at Florida, and at Alabama.

It's not just what you do in the off-season, it boils down to the W's and the L's.

That's all that matters.

Still need to see him handle next season. But comma, he is doing everything he needs to be doing to get there so far.

Could not agree more, we have to win.

Remember this post when the class of 14 is responsible for Tennessee's rise to prominence. Go Vols!

7-5 with a bowl game would be a pretty decent improvement his 1st year on the job. Especially when considered what we lost off the offense. Recruits will be looking for improvement and they will buy in. When the better kids start buying in(as they are now), Tennessee will get back to playing for SEC titles. It will come in time.

If he was expected to do better than that it would be a disappointment, but at this stage of the development that is a stepping stone. With how poorly our defense played it would be a miracle to go better than 7-5 with how much we lost on offense.

Nobody is arguing the importance of on the field production. That said, there has not been a lot going on with the football program to be excited for in recent years, so there is absolutely nothing wrong with fans and alumni who get excited about the level of recruiting success from their first year coach.

Lol, if Hurd was a 2 star we'd be hearing how UT is doing so much more than florida from you.

I'm not going to dog him for going 5-7 or more. In my opinion, he should win at least 5 games. But if he doesn't, he's still building a solid foundation, and I don't anticipate that we will be at 5-7 in any subsequent years.

I think this is a Top 5 class if he wins this year, and it's a Top 10 if he does what is expected.

Butch is building our future. I wonder how he'll handle the schedule next season but I really like him and in with him for the long haul.

No heat from me, it's the truth. I think CBJ has done a great job so far, but if he doesn't get Ws, then it's all out the window. That being said, I think winning at Oregon, FL, and Bama this year is going to be very difficult for any team, much less a team with a new coach in the SEC.

Its all that matters, but you have to start somewhere when you have been rock bottom. Its one thing to get a good class, but Jones has gotten it right in almost every aspect. Hearing great things from current players, former players and of course recruiting seems to be on point!!! We will see this same type of improvement and fire on the field and will be relavent again in year 2 and 3.

TN has been so down, all he has to do to keep this positive vibe flowing in the program is win one upset game and then take care of the 6 or 7 other games TN should win. Prediction: If Butch can put together an 8-4 season TN will have a top 5 recruiting class in February.

How do you guys think you start winning? By landing elite recruiting classes. You don't win on the field especially in the SEC, without elite recruiting. Which is what coach Jones is doing now..

Get all this negative garbage out of here.

Waco can go F himself....even though I agree :)

It's nice to have some upward momentum for once....just like you can only play the teams on your schedule during the season, you can only gain momentum in the offseason with recruiting commits.

I'll take victories and momentum where I can get it.
