Any word on how Memphis ‘backers Eason & French are doing?

Him not playing should help. My point is not doing football will not help him be better. He was not good and now we say he is one of our top 4. I'm not excited about that.
He played like 3 games at linebacker and had more picks in one game than all our linebackers combined in 2 years? I don’t get your hot take with such a small sample size and yet like another poster stated that one of the best defensive minds who’s coached a lot of nfl talent at the position says Banks can be as good as any he’s ever coached? Take a Xanax and chill.

I hope they are doing well but I don't want to see them play this fall. I want them to redshift and get bigger and learn more and save their bodies for another year. This also means older players are stepping up.

There is no point in redshirting. No INT loses any eligibility this year. Might as well play if they’re good enough.

You are correct, so does a redshirt mean nothing this season? NCAA not thinking it through...anyone surprised?

I guess every freshman gets 6 years to play 5. the ncaa is such a joke ...

I’ll be surprised if the NCAA actually goes through with this. Players are playing 85% of their season and then there’s the whole how many scholarships athletes are allowed the next 2 years because those numbers will be inflated. It sounds great, but in practicality allowing blue bloods to have 100 scholarship athletes will basically create a monstrous gap in talent from other schools.

He has all the tools to be good. Jeremy himself said he would eventually be one of the best backers he ever coached; that is some high praise from the head man. Just be patient.

Lot of posters on here have a lot of emotion invested in Banks not making it. 😏

They'll probably play in at least four games maybe more if they show out....... 😎

Edit... Just thought of something.. Since the ruling that no eligibility will be lost this year, shouldn't anyone be able to play in any number of games and their future eligibility not change.. Am I interpreting this correctly?

I don't know, if he doesn't quit, gets his degree and that degree allows him to support himself and his family, I would call that a success.

Wouldn't you?
I thought this was a football forum. We didn't come to play school.

I guess the fact that our other linebackers not getting a pick against ETSU, Tennessee Tech or any other FCS is irrelevant right? Literally any argument you have can be easily wrecked. Btw, for a kid to play his 3rd game ever at the position against a D1 team and get 2 that’s amazing. Meanwhile we have kids that played the position for years and still they sit at 0.

I kinda hope my backers are making tackles. If we are relying on them for pics against utc then we are hurting. I didnt see him do that well. Just saying our HC chose to play him. He knows football, but he chose to play JG too. He also lost to BYU and GA State. I love the Vols but I watch him play. I didnt like what I saw. Especially that we have big recruits at that position. I'd hope 1 of them could take his spot. Im entitled to my opinion. Nothing you say can change it. Hope I'm wrong bc I want us to win.

So why just him? Why didn’t everybody set int records?
Same reason gray didn't run for 100 versus anyone but vandy and we add the lets see it versus bama before we get moist in our panties. If we want players to beat bama, I hope they can show out versus D1 teams not d1 aa. But yes, let's pretend he is another Hightower who was an actual great lb that helped his team win a sec title. My point, I would hope that one of our great recruits could beat out a guy who had his best game versus utc only bc he had pics. Not bc he made 24 tackles in the game, but bc our lb had some pics. I hope too too leads team in tackles not pics. Why, I want my lbs hitting folks.

I think Gray finally arrived and that 246 reflected it. Those 2 ints showed he has an eye for the ball and that’s more than useful as an inside linebacker...and you keep shifting goal posts. He has 12 tackles against SC and you’ll move em again. Determined narratives find a way. They’re OUR LBs btw.

Jumper had 18 in a game too. And i have not read where most people think gray turned a corner versus arguably the worst team in the sec.

I never said Banks can't be good. I've said it amazes me we have such great recruits and no one can jump him.

We’ve had elite RBs who’ve never put up such huge numbers against equally horrible programs.

Great RECRUITS are exactly that. Great high school players who haven’t done it at the next level. After they enroll, everyone begins with the same blank slate. Play the best PLAYER now.
