Just curious about high school football in Tn. What's up with the talent in state? I notice each year that most of the recruits are from out of state. Rivals has Tn. with only 1 player from the state of Tn. I would think that alone would make building a program hard when you have to face Florida, Alabama, and Georgia who have great in state recruiting each year. I also saw where several of Tn. recruits are from CA., will these follow LK to USC ?

TN is just cursed with less then stellar talent, Memphis usually produces most of the in state talent I believe.

Not just that, but high school football in Tennessee looks like something out of the 50's. There are few good youth leagues and players just aren't ready for the college game, no matter how talented they are. Scheme wise it usually takes Tennessee players a year or two to catch up to the guys From California, Texas and Florida. Combine that with a lower population and there you go.

Makes sense, I think Don'ta Hightower is from Memphis. I just started noticing the trend over the last several years and was wondering what was going on with Tn. high school football.

Hightower is not from Memphis.

He is another Fulmer miss. He was interested in UT early but they didnt offer nor recruit him till Bama did. Much like Patrick Willis who did want to play for UT but Fulmer and staff didnt think he would fit what they were looking for and they chose to pursue the more heralded, better tape, Daniel Brooks.

As the father of two youth football players, this depresses me. At 8 and 11 my boys are pretty good football players but who knows whether they will be good enough to play D1 ball when they get older.

From Wes Rucker's Twitter:
"@TnVols47 I saw Loften, Nelson, Copeland and Williams at the hoops game, and another beat guy said he saw Dixon."

He's a good player, hate that he got hurt this year, but that's football. He is probably just as good as Rolando McClain. Tenn.'s lose was Alabama's gain, but Saban is a great recruiter and defensive mind. Tn. probably got a good coach since he was with Saban for several years. You are much better off without Lame Kitten. He was a joke. I have family in Tn. and they said all along something wasn't right about this guy.
