I know these are 2 of the more "developmental" OL's on our roster but I was wondering if anyone who is close to the program can tell me anything with these guys. Are they making any significant progress that puts them in a position to seriously challenge for starting positions on the OL, or at least garner some playing time?

Kevin Revis will never contribute unless the game is a blowout. Pair redshirted last year and should see snaps at backup tackle being James had Bullard nor transferred and became backup RT

Should've went to a mid-major I guess. I remember Revis being highly regarded coming out of high school, saying he was had great footwork and was an intelligent player. What happened?

You have no idea if that is true. Still young.

Those things were prob said but none of those were true. Phil offered him as a favor to a friend in Evansville.

I have no way of knowing if this is actually true. However if it is, then I guess it's BS like this that got Fulmer fired. As badly as we need OL's, why waste a scholarship on a player that has no hope of contributing?

PF offered but LK signed him and I don't remember LK being shy in telling a kid to go find another place to play if he wasn't a fit. But with guys like Crowder, Posey, Richardson, Jackson, Kerbyson and Bullard coming in he will have to step it up to see any playing time.

So you don't remember Kiffin having to honor the commitments from the previous staff?

Bryce Petty was the only guy that they were allowed to cut loose. In fact, they really didn't tell him to get lost they just refused to contact him until he decommitted.

Exactly, that was part of the deal when he was hired. If a player with an offer from the previous staff wanted to come here, they could. Kiffin could only encourage them to look elsewhere. I'm sure he did that with Revis, but Revis didn't care.

He will never play meaningful minutes unless our OL is in shambles.

Tajh's scholarship was not terminated. He was urged to look elsewhere and he did just that.

just as I said I don't remember LK being shy in telling a kid to go find another place to play if he wasn't a fit...

That said, if he still wanted to be here, he could have been.

Sure, UT isn't one of those schools that would renig on a offer or rethink a promise. Although I'm not sure why any kid would "want" to commit to a school where he was told he did not fit the program.

Haha. Revis did not get an offer as a favor. He was a very good prospect coming out of high school. He came in undersized and needed to put on good weight. He has been doing that. He is still young and is definitely SEC quality. Now, we have some great young talent on the OL so he has that hurdle in front of him. But he is a quality young OL.

Could be that I've had too many beers while grilling out this evening, but that makes absolutely no sense to me.

he does contribute. its wrong to think kids on scholarship don't contribute. If he wasn't there for scout team work during the week then Marcus Jackson would be needed for that rather than getting work on our system and learning. several others like Marcus as well.

you need so many of these kids or you have kids focusing on scout team that could be spending time developing.

I think we all know Kiffin would have asked him to look elsewhere if he didn't like his work.

Also, I am from Evansville... Who was the friend? Coach Horton passed away (Andy Kelley tie) and Coach Payne wasn't "a friend". So who was it??

It was nobody. Just ridiculous stuff people say that they think they can pass off as fact. I am from Dayton. I know the family and there was certainly no "family friend" getting any favors from Fulmer. When Kiffin came on he recruited Kevin and was excited about him coming to UT. He just came in undersized and had to build up size and strength like almost all OL do coming out of high school. Problem right now is that during the time he has spent getting bigger UT has brought him some very, very talented OL.
