Any positives from Saturday? Anyone?

Yep, it ended up an asswhipping but we looked good in the first quarter. Let's get some positive comments in here. I thought the run game looked good for what we have at this time. Cooper played through the pain and showed a lot of heart.

What positives can you add?
We should’ve been leading at halftime. To many injuries in the 2nd half. Depth issues.

Tennessee had nearly 100 more total yards than Alabama against Florida while running only five more plays than the Crimson Tide did against the Gators.

First half big play offense.
#8 is a very good SEC RB.
Heupel can call plays, knows what he’s doing.
Scrappy defense, not very deep but well-coached.
Team fought for 4 quarters, no quit detected.
Sad when a Gator fan is more positive about TN rebuild than a TN fan...

The team went a gave their all.. Something to build on. Hats off to Cooper... Dude has no quit in him!

SO,anone who thinks Coach Josh Heupel and his coaches cannot teach and have good game plans and adjust ingame, leave now because you are too full of sh..it to render any type of comment. These vols need to "clean up"some items then we will clean up on our opponents.Proud of their play, proud of their effort, and proud of their grit.GBO.

We were walking around campus a few hours before the game and some florida fans invited us to their tailgate---good food, beer, and loads of tequila shots---helped dull the pain from the game.

What sucks about Florida is that their fans are usually pretty cool. I went to UT in the early 2000s and they were one of the more enjoyable fanbases to be around. The Georgia fans were terrible though. I hate that UF seems to always beat us. It is like we are cursed against them.

I like the way the team comes out to play, is prepared and confident in the first quarter. To me that shows good coaching and planning.
And then when they tire out because of depth late in game they do not give up.

I saw a lot of good things in the 1st half of the FL game. Heck I thought we were right with them in that half. Unfortunately, we could not sustain it in the 2nd half and some of it was to do with horrible penalties. We also suffered key injuries and we are not deep enough to sustain injures and hope to compete. The depth issue needs to be addressed with excellent recruiting.

Missed field and a couple of key drop passes those plays were the difference. So many upsides from the game.
1. Quarterback play by Hooker👍
2. Offensive line held up to a really good Florida front 7 👍
3. Coach Heupel knows what he is doing.

Note: Clean up penalties and catch the throws we will be fine. We will beat SC, Missouri, Kentucky and Vanderbilt. All we have to do is upset either Ole Miss, Georgia or Alabama and Heupel first season will exceed expectations.
GOVOLS!!!!

Only gave up 9 more points than Bama

Only gave up like 38 more rushing yards than Bama

Only gave up like 60 total more yards than Bama

Problem is…..it was all a lot.

I wouldn’t take much from this game…..but probably not many, if any teams going to run as much as Florida does…..so there’s that.

Positives from Saturday? Let’s see, earth was not destroyed by an asteroid nor was there a zombie apocalypse ( at least that we know of). Do those count? 😉

Our coaches were putting our team in a position to succeed which is the first time that’s happened in a long time.

How much of that was coachspeak, how was of that was Mullen trying to change the narrative for their sluggish first half, and how much of it was his true feelings?

Just after hearing Saban wax poetically about Dooley and Pruitt, I'm just a bit skeptical.
I could understand that if is it was Saban. Dan Mullen doesn't tend to mince his words.

One dropped pass from probably being a 24 to 21 game late in the 3rd quarter against a top 10 caliber team. Compared to the last several years, that’s progress to me.

Team looks well coached and players fought the entire game. We looked better than I thought we would. Things are finally looking up.

I think the effort and resolve of this team to play 60 minutes is a far cry from what we've seen lately. Also, yeah we need depth and some stars, but I feel like this staff is making or players competitive. Think how much they will develop over the season and into next year. Development is something we haven't been used to seeing on this team. Add some depth and we can compete week in and week out with almost anybody.
Nobody looks like World beaters this year with Ohio State and Clemson going down early, its a weird year I guess.

First time in a long time I can say they didn't struggle to score 14, with one being attributed to a take away and a short field. They put up 14, and left that and maybe more out there in missed passes and dropped balls. That, I've not seen in awhile.

If you're a serious offensive (or in the portal) recruit this should be readily apparent.

Our men fought the entire 60...even when adversity had them down, it was visible that they were not going to give up.
That was a HUGE positive for me and something we haven't seen in quite a while from a Vols team.
Very good point. They were scrappy to the end.

A good 1st half doesn't mean jack...when you can't even put a lousy 3 points on the board in 2 quarters. Even my wife, a UT grad, says "they're just not fun to watch anymore ".
I disagree with everything you said.
So you have your opinions and I have mine.
