Any outgoing Transfer remorse at mid-point?

So is sour grapes.

If you don't think we'd be better off w/the guy leading Alabama in tackles, the guy who's fourth in tackles at MI State, our starting left tackle from last year on a wafer-thin O-line, and our starting RBs from last year when the backup can't get his shoulder right and the third-string is a walk-on, then you're delusional.

They left, so could care less about their future success. But you're def. delusional if you think we're better off for not having them.
He's a talented guy at a position UT could use talent at. That said, there were murmurs even with Pruitt around that HT was more about HT than his team mates or UT. That's not what you need when job #1 is changing the culture.

You can look back through my posts. Other than criticizing his play vs the pass... I've said very little bad about him. Oh, I do suspect that he was part of the NCAA violations... maybe the central part. It is my belief that he really didn't have a real opportunity to come back even if he wanted to. I think Gray and Morris were probably in the same boat.

He’s still to slow to get on the field here. He was recruited over numerous times.
Disagree. He isn't fast comparatively but isn't slow either. He was a very good route runner and blocker. I had not thought of him but I'd like to have him back in addition to J Johnson. BJ would have been very good in this O... plus he was a good blocker.

If you remember the year he got to play, he made some decent catches, but he never got separation from defenders. He was also not a good yac guy. He was just a very average possession receiver. We have much better athletes at the position now.

We got what we got. I'm glad we have players who want to be here and are busting their butts on behalf of the team. Those left aren't here anymore so are of no consequence, nor relevance to my Vols. So I'm just going to grab the handrails and hang on for the ride they're giving us. I'm a Tennessee Volunteers fan, if you're not a Vols player, you're both irrelevant and invisible to me.

What If is a Marvel Comics series. It's all fiction, our Vols are the real thing. Is that so wrong?

I'm glad Jahmir Johnson isn't starting here, he's just flat out awful. He got absolutely whipped by Arkansas a couple weeks ago. If he wasn't getting blown by, he was called for holding. He must be a practice warrior, because I haven't seen anything in a game to say he is a SEC caliber lineman.

Gray and Chandler would've been nice, but when healthy, we're plenty fine there. Our linebacker play has been improved this year, but To'oto'o and Crouch might have improved just like our current batch for with better coaching. I would like Lawrence back, just because he could've been really good and safety help is needed.

My opinion is that he, like so many others, was very poorly utilized. I remember him disappearing... but I also remember him finding "grass". He is a guy who would have gotten open and made catches. He wouldn't be running by the secondary.

Speaking of... are you as surprised by Payton as I am? Only 8 receptions but over 20 ypc and 3 TD's. He's already at 177 yds... his previous season high is 225.

Every time I look at something like this I buy Heupel a little more. He is finding ways to use the talent of the guys he has. That's something we never saw out of Jones or Prutt and to a lesser degree Dooley. Can you imagine how good UT might be right now if Heupel had inherited the windfall Jones did?

He doesn't need to be a LT... and Calzada pretty much sucks.

Yeah... but is the guy just a flake? Did he come to UT for the money? We never really knew him.

Don’t say stuff like this because he isn’t with the team. He single handedly won us a bowl game. Gray was really good
I'm not. I said he wasn't that great last year. Nothing personal against the kid. Just always thought he was a bit overhyped, as was Wanya. Jahmir was the one we needed to stay there. Seems to be true given lack of production at OU so far. He's fast but not great vision or tackle breaking ability.

Brandon Johnson, Jamir Johnson, Henry T other than that no. The mindset of some of the players that left could have been more of a detriment they they would have been of value.

Payton and Hooker developing that connection. Takes more than a moment, but when they’re finally in tune?

I was thinking about this in my way into work this morning. I am betting Chandler and Gray felt at least a bit of regret when they saw those rushing totals Saturday. An RB doesn’t get that kind of opportunity very often in their career

I think you are on to something. I think a substantial load of toxicity and entitlement went out in the portal. Not trying to tie it to any particular set of individuals because I just don’t know the situation, but man if this team’s attitude isn’t just night and day better than it has been in a looooong time

Not to worried about who left probably want make a games difference in our final record. Both the defense and offense are much better than last season. I am sure a lot of that is due to coaching, but we also have a lot of guys that are giving maximum effort something we've been lacking. Of course we need better at every position because when and if we get it were a contender for the SEC title. If Heupel and Assistants can recruit we have the system and the coaching staff that can get us there.

I wondered if those that transferred are the ones that received the benefits that got us in trouble. Maybe they didn't have much of a choice?

That many players transferring out at once definitely hurt from a talent standpoint, but probably fast-tracked the culture change

Here's my two cents...

I've seen a lot on here say To'o To'o was a loss, but was he really. He stuck around to well after the new coaches were hired so he knew what they were going to be about.
Honestly his second year here was not as good as his first. Other than being quick about setting the Defense up pre-snap we didn't lose much that others have not stepped up and replaced.

The only spot I think we have really missed on is O Line and that's just a matter of having capable men of size, not really a "player that left is better than player that stayed" viewpoint.

I hope that they regret it daily.

And I hope that we never look back on them.

Love the team we have.

I know I’ll get roasted by some…”move on” and “don’t live in the past” etc. etc…….but I am genuinely curious if you all think some of our outgoing transfers regret the decision now that we have a little momentum and we can at least see the vision for CJH program . I know that we have a ways to go, but definitely making progress and TN has to be one of the most fun Offenses to play in.

Gray-love Small and Evans, but Gray would put up big numbers too….what about Chandler? UNC having a rough year…I think he might put up better numbers with us this year.

Jahmir Johnson/Wanya- those guys would help us a ton ….and I know AM is struggling and Morris is not a regular starter at OU….any regrets on their part?

And then on D Johnson/crouch would help us a lot….and Miami is not living up to expectations

Anyways, think any of these guys regret transferring now?
*disclaimer- I know some were probably asked to leave due to investigation stuff
I wish Gray, Crouch, Too’Too, and Morris had stayed. Quality players at there position for depth.

Payton is definitely a positive surprise. On the other end of the spectrum Hyatt has been disappointing this season. I truly though he would have a break out year in this offense. He seems to not only have a case of the drops, but it’s almost like he’s afraid of contact this year.

Evans is better than Gray IMO. Faster too!

I love the guys that are here and those that transferred in. We def won getting Hooker....wow!
I thought Evans was better than Grey as soon as I saw his highlights, before he ever suited up as a Vol. Grey is a good back but I always thought he was overrated and too easy to bring down at times.
Evans looks like a future NFL back to me. Grey… I’m not so sure. And I felt this way before he ever decided to transfer.
I’ll take Evans all day

I always assumed so….at least the high profile ones. We know money changed hands, right?probably not the 2-3* guy that got paid and definitely not the walkons, haha…..deductive reasoning says it’s gotta be your former 5* guys.

Yeah, I'm not trying to hate on Gray at all, but he wasn't nearly as good as people hyped him to be. He was quick yet, but very easy to tackle and not great vision. I think he left more yards on the field than needed.

Jahmir Johnson and Henry T are the two I really wish were still here. Chandler would be nice as RB 2.

Banks this year, is better IMO....and faster!
