Any news on how the in home with Cofer went?

There was some info in both of his threads particularly the asking for his release one.

Did Donnie T get it done?

Per a Cofer interview with TOS, it went better than he expected. Liked Donnie and all the assistants. Donnie and all three assistants made the trip, and that impressed him. Still, he has opened up his recruitment, and will be taking official visits to Fla. ST, Va Tech, and maybe Ga Tech, Miami or Memphis. The good news is he never took his official visit to UT, and he will take it pretty soon. So it wasn't perfect news, but Donnie did enough to put UT back in the race. All those UT ties makes me think he will end up back with the Vols.

I think Cofer just really wants to feel wanted by CDT. I think he'll be a Vol unless one of there others schools just blow him away.

Wes Rucker said he feels Cofer will be back in if he had to guess right now. Cofer mentioned that he's building that relationship with CDT. Sounds all great as of now

If he felt impressed after the meeting then I think that DT can get him back on the bus. The other schools aren't real powerhouse competitors which makes me feel good about Tennessee's chances.

I think it was mentioned that he hadn't had an official to UT so he was going to come up next week to get to know the coaches better.

If it's down to these schools I think we don't have anything to worry about. Virginia Tech finished 9-22 last season, Ga. Tech and Miami didn't have inspiring seasons either and Florida State was just 22-14. Memphis would be our main competition. It would take some hard recruiting from all of them to land him though.

Would really like to get him back but..... I can't remember TN ever getting a "de-committ" back. :banghead2:
I could be wrong though???

VT's basketball facilities are nowhere close to UT's either, I can't speak to the other three ACC schools.

The thing I feel like people are overlooking is the fact that Phil's dad is pretty ill right now so he may try to stay closer to home and go to Ga. Tech, which is only 30 mins from his house

Been saying the same thing since Tyndall was hired

Well its whatever Phil sees as a best option. Does he want to be on a winning team? Or would he rather stay closer to home to see his dad? I guess another question would be if Phil's dad is terminally ill or not.

The name of the disease he is afflicted with is called Amyloidosis, and there is currently no cure for it.

5 year survival rate is only about 50% and the median survival time is about 12-18 months. Mike was diagnosed a little over a year ago

Hate to be a Debbie Downer, but I don't think he's coming back. I think if he really wanted to be here, he wouldn't have asked for a release before the visit IMO. Who knows, I could be completely wrong, and I hope I'm particularly wrong about him not coming back.

That being said, nothing will surprise me. Could go any way.

That is just terrible for all of them. Hate it for Cofer. Alot for a young man to go through. Hope he becomes a Vol....but wish him well no matter where he goes.

With his father ailing, I can see why he had such a strong connection with CCM.

Didn't Reggie White have amyloidosis? A horrible, horrible disease. Prayers to the Cofer family.

eta: Sorry, it was sarcoidosis with pulmonary involvement. Equally devastating.

Yeah I didn't take into consideration where he was from. ESPN has him listed as being from Atlanta which is where Georgia Tech is, so I see him transferring there. I don't blame the kid though, I'd be doing the exact same thing.

Wikipedia says he was diagnosed in 2007.
