Any news on Bryce Browns visit?

The O-line with proper coaching and S&C shouldn't be bad. I mean this is the same line (almost) that went down to Atlanta in 2007.

Just watching pre-spring conditioning discipline leads me to believe these guys will get back to being dominate in short order.

I think there could be a 3 or 4 game swing based on how this line plays this fall. They must know a lot depends on them. I hope CLK's system makes more sense to them and they can just beat the guy lined up across the ball from them.

We lost so badly on the line of scrimmage last year it was pathetic. Why that happened remains a mystery to me.

Bryce Brown was interview live in studio on KAKE Sports Overtime here in Wichita tonight, here are my notes on what he had to say:

So on the show, Bryce was on with Brian Butler... On Tennessee, said he had a good visit, "lots of nice people down there." Also says "he spend lots of one on one time with Coach Kiffin talking about the offense and how he would fit in." He mentioned taking an "unofficial" visit to LSU in a couple weeks.

Lots of K-State homers calling in trying to pump him up on K-State but his reactions were luke warm.

He did sound upbeat about Oregon... talked about how the uniforms and "shoes you get," said "Oregon sells it self and they care about their players." He was impressed with how they handled Dennis Dixon's injury, especially how they set up a website for him giving the NFL scouts updates on the progress of his rehab, Bryce said that showed how much they care.

Bryce called the CFL rumors "non-sense."

Said he is going to announce on March 16th now...

Thats it...

Kiffin should just pull his offer! Since he didn't commit this weekend! Show them one player not running this program

if we get bryce brown, orson charles, and david oku that would be amazing! we would have six espn150 commits. we need a running back if it is david oku, bryce brown or toney williams. all i say is if they dont go to tennessee they will get murdered by eric berry and darren miles jr

We might have the O-line this year that we all thought we'd have, around this time, last year. Wouldn't that be an awesome turnaround? It's well within the range of possibilities.

or o-line was good it s just that jonathan crompton stinks. our o-line was fine and will be fine

Oregon sells itself with cool shoes and uniforms? Wow, we don't need this kid. Sounds like a diva to me. If our staff, facilities, and tradition can't win a player over, and shoe's, green and yellow jersey's, and a mid-level pac-10 team can? Then I'm glad he's not here.

Given his latest comments, essentially saying that Tennessee doesn't have enough good players and "can see myself going to Oregon", honestly, makes me wonder why he even came in for a visit.

So let me get this straight... he doesn't want to come to Tennessee because of lack of good players, yet Oregon probably at best has the 5th best talent in the Pac 10(probably worse than 5th)...??? can someone explain this to me? If he's basing it on tallent, does Brown even watch college football? to me there is no comparison between our tallent and oregons

Could you please explain how you came up with this number? Besides of course, just making it up in your mind

I agree with 7IlikeOrange7 in that Oregon has the 5th best talent in the Pac-10. The Rivals and Scout numbers agree with us:

Ranking of Oregon Recruiting Classes among Pac-10 Teams
Year Rivals Scout
2009 5 4
2008 3 5
2007 2 2
2006 9 10
2005 5 5
2004 2 2
2003 6 8
2002 7 6
Average (last 8 years) 4.9 5.3
Average (last 5 years) 4.8 5.2

The online rankings only go back 8 years, but Oregon's average ranking among Pac-10 teams is fairly consistent. Oregon has middle of the road Pac-10 talent.

If Brown wants to make sweeping statements about talent levels, he should at least get his agent to run some numbers first. But hey, Oregon sells itself with flashy shoes. Nice.

Also, I compared the Rivals and Scout rankings for Tennessee and Oregon recruiting classes, and Tennessee holds the talent edge based on these rankings. Of course, these rankings do not reflect player development, coaching (see Utah/Bama) or attrition (transfers, kids getting kicked off the team, etc.). Brown's comments about our lack of talent coupled with his high interest in Oregon is a perplexing. If he were extremely high on LSU or USC, that would make sense considering our talent level is definitely lower than those programs' personnel. I guess it shows that recruiting may be more about perception than reality and that there are so many factors that play into a kid's decision.

Anyone else put 2 and 2 together with the Oregon + Brown saga? The leading donor to The University of Oregon, and hands down the main contributor of dollars to the Oregon Football program is the founder of Nike. Maybe Brown sees some type of endorsement deal down the road if he makes it to the NFL. Seeing that maybe Nike will sign him up to an endorsement deal, based on his alumnus status with Oregon as with the owner of Nike.

Do not forget the dream of being that close to Phil Knight and his product endorsement contracts.
Shocks beat me to it.

What is your source? A source doesn't have to be linked. Just tell us where you heard it.

As crazy as that sounds, I think it's very possible.

That's highly likely. I don't think we've beaten PosiVol into submission yet. :p

For the record, I don't hate Posinotvol whatsoever as that would be against board rules.

My points are opposed to the baseless anti-Kiffin arguments he attempts to advance. :birgits_giggle:

All in good humor, I hope Posi. Nothing personal intended. As I've mentioned before, the forum would be much more boring if we all agreed. VN needs posters like Posi who are willing to debate.

no prob bob :hi:
