Kennedy got hurt
JJ Peterson won't see the field for a long time due to be out of shape

I think that about sums up the day

Confirmed by JP that Kennedy is out for the season.

JJP can't play for 2 weeks due to NCAA rules, but he's seems out of shape for playing time right now.

If JJP didn't or couldnt apply himself enough on his school work to make it here in a normal amount of time and he also didn't or couldn't apply himself enough to staying in relatively good shape I'm starting to wonder how much heart the kid has. How much does he want this? This is supposed to be a guy CJP can build around. I understand its nearly impossible to stay in "game shape" without being here through the summer but he dont look like he's in decent shape.

I hope I've jumped to conclusions.

Had not seen anything yet... I assume it may have been closed to media.
1. Kennedy out for year with knee
2. JJ Peterson is fat/out of shape, “won’t play for a long time” because of it
3. Players practice with extra “juice”/intensity was JP thought was a very good sign. Nobody pointing fingers, everybody asking what they can do to help and get better.
4. Moving OLs around to get best 5 on field...Ryan Johnson moves to 1st team center, backed up by Locklear and then Carvin
5. JP said they must build DL depth, getting Mincey, Emerson, Harris and Gooden “a ton of reps” on both scout team and normal defense.
6. Believes teams do indeed show most improvement from game 1 to game 2
7. Said they might’ve played their very best on Saturday or any other day and still lost. Said goal is to get team to playing “it’s very best”....that’s what he’s looking for.

Looks like it’s gonna be awhile cause he’s fat and badly out of shape. JP said it’ll be a long time before he plays. I’d guess game 6, after bye week...just a guess.
I say just play him the final 4 games and redshirt him. No need to assume he will go pro after junior year. He hasn’t proven anything.

This was my first thought when I saw the highlights of his first day at practice. Hopefully the kid was just stressed from school and ate for comfort or was too busy with studying to work out. Could be a combination of the two or maybe he just isn’t a very motivated individual. Even if he isn’t or “lacks heart” as you phrased it there’s the possibility that he grows up quickly. I didn’t get motivated until I was 22

Is the school allowed to send the player workout material to follow before he arrives on campus? One would think JJ would have at least been in good shape. Doesn’t sound like JJ did himself any favors with his relationship with the coaches. I assume CJP is pissed.

Yep. I kept seeing Tuttle and Phillips etc series after series last Saturday. Maybe I miss something from just watching it on TV, but it looks like our starters for in their way too much.

That NCAA rules only applies to practice. 2 days in shorts, 2 days in shells, then can go full pads and contact. He technical could be put into the game at any point Saturday but given the fact he hasn’t done anything to maintain or keep his weight that won’t happen

Heard he was re-habbing an injury. In some cases that will interfere with conditioning. I'm not defending the guy but I see above where several got down on the kid without knowing the true nature of what is really going on. I did indeed read where he had a significant injury and I think it was a shoulder. Bad position to be in for an athlete because you can't work out. Of all fans you'd expect UT fans would know this.

Your shoulder doesn’t keep you from running or controlling your weight. I have faith the coaches will get him ready but sounds like some maturity is needed. I wish him the best.

We got to stop waiting for a savior to arrive and get better across the board. When everyone learns to block and tackle we will rise from the ashes.
