I have a network with several machines behind my router and need to be able to access the same port on 2 different machines from outside the network. I usually would just forward the port from the router to the appropriate machine, but since I need to access two different machines I am not sure how to set it up. Any ideas?

Why specifically the same port? Can you not change one of the machines to use the next port up with the program you are using?

Matt says look at "port triggering". It's in the same place as the forwarding stuff.


That makes absolutely NO sense to me.

Good call LIO. Your man Matt knows his stuff... depending on the router that Freak is using.

I found port triggering in my router settings but I am not sure how it works. I will do some googling.

hmmm. I am not sure that is going to work because there is no internal action to "trigger" opening the port.

I can't really get into detail about what I need but let me give another example. What if I had 2 ftp servers on separate machines behind a router that MUST run on the standard ftp port (21). How could I access each server from my hotel room? I know normal port forwarding would only allow me to forward port 21 traffic to one internal ip.

Make sense?
