Any hotel suggestions outside of Downtown Knoxville for South Carolina Game?

Man, that was a hopping little club in HoJo's back in the day. Always had live music every single weekend. You do know the entire building is gone now, razed?

Yeah. By time I got into the thread everyone had the good hotels covered so I figured I’d throw in an old school joke.

That’s too bad. I actually had good experience with that hotel three years ago when I had to fly my family up for my dad’s funeral. They checked us in very early (9am) and gave us special discount when they found out we were going to a funeral service at noon. I particularly remember the manager being courteous to me during a difficult time.

Maybe things have changed. This was at least 6-7 years ago that I made the mistake of putting up my parents there on a random weekend. Was not even a football weekend when things were packed either.

To this day, I am forbidden to make any travel arrangements for my mother.

The club was Babes. I dunno when the HOJO closed. Has to have been a decade or so. Was briefly something else before the Long family that owned it kind of gave up. Seem to remember HOJO pulling their franchise or something because of the state of the buildinh. They also had the other crown jewel of Knoxville-the Budget Inn that was where the Cook Out and OYO are on Cedar Bluff.

Babes was a well known swinger bar late in it's run.

Back in the 80's and into the 90's four of us use to stay in a place called Family Inn in West Knoxville.....I'd have to give it a 2 star rating but it was always clean and plenty of restaurants in either direction.....And we never had issues getting a room there...LOL. Back in those days we were still young enough we only spent a few hours in the room anyway after parting most of the night....That was also in the days before having to book 2 nights. Seems the 4 of us split $75.00 for the night.

Yeah, who knows? Hotels can be be highly variable just depending on which staff is on duty that day.

Looking for hotel suggestions outside of downtown. Obviously not a run down trash hole, but maybe not 200 plus a night stuff neither.
The double tree in Oak Ridge is decent. But if I was traveling into Knox I would probably stay in Pigeon Forge and make a mini vacation out of it.

lol I had never heard of the Inn of Knoxville, so I googled it.
It is everything you would expect of a motel located in that part of town. I did laugh at their sales pitch, though:

Given the close proximity of popular landmarks, such as Mabry Hazen House (1.5 mi) and Old City (2.0 mi), guests of Inn of Knoxville can easily experience some of Knoxville's most well known attractions.
While in Knoxville be sure to experience local lobster favorites at Chesapeake's, Cafe 4, or Ruth's Chris Steak House.

As if people staying there would be going to Chesapeake's or Ruth's Chris.
That'll be $26.55 for the room and $197 for the Ruth's Chris steak and surf!
