I've just started listening to his music and got say I'm adding him to my playlist. Could anyone share some suggestions for other songs? I listened to New Amsterdam, Red Shoes, No Dancing, and a cover of Mystery Train. Anyways thanks in advance :hi:

Of course, you also need Alison and Watching The Detectives. They are his mainstream songs but they are really great.

Appreciate it, will look into those when I get some free time. I don't know why I hadn't stumbled upon his work before now.

New Amsterdam was always one of my favs.

This Year's Model has great tunes as does Armed Forces.

Secondary Modern is one of my favorite tunes - I think it's on Get Happy.

Everything up through and including Imperial Bedroom is great. That's when I stopped listening regularly. I believe Imperial Bedroom got a 5 star from Rolling Stone; very rare.

You can tell EC has big country influences - his song writing is heavily based on the double meaning style in songs like those from George Jones (one of his influences) and others of that era.

His "Almost Blue" is a country tribute album with covers from George Jones, Gram Parsons, Flying Burrito Bro.s and others.

Secondary Modern was pretty good and simple, I've searched on YouTube for New Amsterdam but the only ones I've came across included You Got to Hide Your Love Away as well. I'm not complaining because I'm a Beatle fan and love that song as well.

I thought for sure I saw him at a BBQ place here in Bham. Turns out, it was some dumb ass that dresses exactly like him; wears the same type glasses and same facial hair

I hate to bump a thread but I've become a huge fan of his. Easily one of my top five favorite singers.

I've seen EC every time he's been to the Ryman since 2002 or 03. He puts on an amazing show without needing any kind of BS on stage other than himself and his band. Dude is just incredible.

I really want to see him in person sometime if I get the chance. I have to say my top five favorite songs of his are as followers;

1. I Don't Want to Go to Chelsea
2. Pump It Up
3. Oliver's Army
4. Veronica
5. What's So Funny About Peace, Love, and Understanding?

HM: Blame It On the Cain, Angels Want to Wear my Red Shoes, Waiting for the End of the World, Welcome to the Working Week, Sulphur To Sugarcane.

I have to say though pretty much all of his stuff is good in my book.

The more I think about it the more I'd say Get Happy is my favorite EC album. Nice, short pop gems.

I know everyone says it, but I find myself listening to This Year's Model more than all of his other stuff. He's made very few bad albums. But TYM defines Costello in my mind.
