I've been interested in getting a drone for awhile and finally grabbed a DJI Mini 2 from Costco a couple weeks ago. I know zero about photography but have been having a lot of fun flying it around and taking some extremely amateur shots.

Anyone have experience flying around UT campus? I see that Neyland Stadium is in a class E2 controlled airspace zone, so I gather I would need LAANC authorization to fly in that area. I also see that UT has its own rules and form you have to fill out to get permission. Was also thinking the botanical gardens on the AG campus would be a cool place to fly. Would be glad to hear tips/experiences.

I have a couple I got a few years ago. You can put a GoPro type camera on them if you want but it doesn’t have any kind of bells and whistles to take good photography or video. The ones I have are exactly the same but one was rebranded under a different name. It’s the MJX Bugs 3 and a FORCE1. Flying doesn’t have any return to home or hover mode so it’s all you. Not a beginner drone and they haul a**.

the cheaper ones are actually harder to learn on. The advanced ones have technology to fly themselves if something goes wrong.

I flew mine around downtown on Friday. I turned off obstacle avoidance because I was getting so much interference from the buildings. crashed it into the dolly mural. Broke 1 arm. I have already sent it off for repair. Should have it back in less than 2 weeks.

My son got one for Christmas. We have not learned how to fly the thing yet. It wants to fly low and uncontrollably sideways. I think we have some settings misconfigured.
