I used to be a big comic collector. Had a handful of toy stuff but quickly decided it takes up too much room. I still have a couple cool statues (Thor, Silver Surfer, Galactus and Watcher minibusts) but they aren’t displayed right now.

I’ve actually sold about 80% of my comic collection. I’ve converted to digital for the most part. Although today I bought “Bowie” biography by Mile Allred. Couldn’t resist having a hard copy.

Are you looking for anything in particular? I still have some. Have listings on eBay and that other 20% I just haven’t taken the time to go through.

How did you sell if you dont mind? I have a collection I've been thinking of unloading.

Oh I see, ebay. Work well for you? How do you establish value?

I look for similar books and filter sold items. Also kinda judge by how many are currently listed. That gives me an idea of what I should list for. Sometimes I list on the higher end and offer free shipping. Other times I list low and charge for shipping. I haven’t found either method is better than the other.

I don’t really do the auctions anymore. They rarely bid up high enough unless you start them high. I list as Buy It Now and allow offers.

Also I prefer to list lots/runs. It gets rid of stuff faster, brings in a bigger chunk of change, and I don’t get stuck with the filler issues no one would by individually. Plus it’s not worth the effort to pack and ship a single $3 book... at least to me.

Of course there are some exceptions. Unexpected gems I’ve had for years that were discount books in the 90s have turned into hot items (like the Hulk issue of the first Rocket Racoon that I bought for around $2 back when and sold for $80 last year).

Overall I would Some books I have sold high and made a profit but most I would say I took a loss.I had just gotten to the point that anything I got out of them was better than just sitting in my basement.

Is it hard to sell loose comics online? I tried to unload a few old ungraded sports cards on ebay years ago. It wound up being such a hassle trying dealing with people after the sale, none of whom ever wanted to return what they'd bought but who all wanted a partial refund because of a claimed condition issue that I couldn't really dispute once I mailed the card off. I just gave up and gave most of my collection to my nephews.

I’ve not had any real issues. I just try to take good pics.

I’ve had more problems selling old electronics. Scammers galore out there.

Ebay is the best way. Baseball cards are the same way. Becketts guid is pretty irrelevant. It will give you an idea but ebay is the best way to see trends.

Seems that way but you can look at the same item in the same condition and see some extreme price variations for sold items during the same time period. Even when you try to account for the seller's history and charity fundraiser sales, you can still see some wild extremes.
