Any chance that Hurricane Florence will be a factor on Saturday?

Looks like Saturday could be really wet and windy. Many may stay home. The Vol Navy may be on the 50 yard line. Lots of games cancelled or postponed this Saturday. Any news or contingencies for us?

No cancellation. The mountains block Knoxville plus the storm is going into Georgia as it dies out.

Everytime these are predicted to hit head on they never do.... Hopefully it hangs off the coast and rolls with it .... Also, hopefully if it does hit directly it downgrades to a lower category.
That USED to be the case, but since the Epic Flooding In Houston (Harvey) , They "Experts" have been amazingly accurate; Predicting a "Stall Out" for Harvey (It Did exactly as they said; including the Monumental Flooding) . Florence is predicted to do the exact same thing. Rather uncanny. I don't remember hurricanes ever doing the Stall thing once they came ashore; and I've been through plenty since 1979 Frederick. Something is changing these storms; and for the Worse!

Hmm, turns out I may have under-stated the winds.

There is a chance (maybe not a great one, but a chance) that we could see tropical storm-force winds (34 knots or greater) in Knoxville on game day.

Here's the word from the National Hurricane Center:

That shows Knoxville seeing high winds as early as Friday. This is "earliest reasonable," which means the storm is not likely to move west this quickly. But still, it could happen.

Here's the "most likely" version of the same info:

That has the winds picking up after the game is over, into Saturday evening.

Could be a windy day, Saturday. And an outside chance of VERY windy.

My son's girlfriend got us all tickets for the game, unfortunately they are in nose bleed section, can you imagine what it will feel like up there if the wind picks up that much?

ORB, you might want to take a few lengths of rope, just in case. You know, tie yourselves off to a rail. :)

Tropical Storm Allison in 2001. It never touched land as a hurricane. Just sat in the Gulf and dumped water on us.

Zero chance of this game being postponed or canceled. Very little chance of any rain during the game. Even if this game were played on Sunday or Monday, it would be fine. Knoxville might get an inch or so of rain from this hurricane, which means it'll be about the same impact as we saw from Gordon this past weekend. But if anyone wants to stay at home out of an abundance of caution and give me their tickets, hit me up. :p

Line the outside of your butt with Velcro and take some to put on the seat. You will be fine
Then I would hate it for the next person that sat there next game.

It would certainly make for an amusing picture: hurricane-force winds pulling ORB's arms and legs toward the sky while her bottom stays firmly planted. I can only assume she would continue to cheer the Vols through it all. :)
