What's the O/U on Chris Petersen? 80-7 in 4 seasons 4-2 in major bowl games, Like 48 years old, beats ranked teams (including the SEC), and only makes 2 million a year. Can ANYTHING pry this guy away. Wishful thinking on my part but I'd take him over Gruden any day.

Petersen coached one year east of the Mississippi and hated it, said he couldn't wait to get back out west. So I would put the chance at less than zero percent.

I highly doubt he comes to the SEC especially because he has a gold mind at Boise St. He also wouldn't come because our schedule is hard as balls next year. We play the SEC East and Oregon next year.

You wouldn't want that freak show to come here anyway. He's an amazing football coach, but it would be a worse culture clash than Rich Rod and Michigan.

He isn't leaving Boise. He has a son that fell and hit his head a few year ago, that caused serious trauma and illness to his spine...And I believe it has progressed to some form of spinal cancer. So, the medical team in Boise that has been treating his very young son has provided very stable medical attention. CCP has made it very clear that it would be very difficult for him and/or his family to leave that stability.

He ain't leaving BSU.

Petersen's son had a tumor removed 13 years ago when the kid was 1 year old and Petersen was coaching at Oregon. The kid is fine and has never received any special treatment in Boise.

While he has never received "special treatment" (however vaguely that is defined), he does have an established group of doctors and caregivers in the Boise area that the family is familiar and comfortable with, and this has and will continue to play a role, however significant, in his decision to stay in Boise.

The kid has an annual MRI which can be done anywhere. There are exactly ZERO medical reasons for Petersen to stay in Boise.

If you say so. Just saying that I have read things to the contrary. Perhaps that factor is overstated in the media. Perhaps it is more about being comfortable in a smaller community.

Actually, his son fell and hit his head, and while he was being checked out, they found that he had brain cancer, which had spread to his spine. He was thirteen months old.

He now seems to be in remission, but anyone who has had a child or any family member go through something like this will understand that after you establish an emotional bond with your treatment team, you don't just up and move because of a new job offer for Dad.

--whether you can get MRI's elsewhere or not.

eta: his son had brain surgery, and then when they discovered the mets to spine, he had a stem-cell transplant, chemo, and additional surgery. On a toddler.

His religious belief's alone wouldnt allow him to recruit well in the South. He would never be an option.

Well seeing as how Peterson OWNS Oregon...Yes I said OWNS them I do not think he is too afraid of going there or the tough schedule...Not sure where you guys get that he is afraid of playing anybody but he made it very clear he will play anybody at THEIR place at anytime...He demolished UGA last season in atlanta...So claims of him being scared is stupid....On that note I would love for the guy to be UT's coach...He is a proven winner and could turn UT football back to being special once again.

Here, this should clear things up a bit. I'm sorry my explanation was so vague...and inaccurate. I had read an article about CCP, forgot the exact details and didn't feel like looking it up last night. My bad.

Boise State Football: Why Chris Petersen Is Staying Put in Idaho | Bleacher Report

Yeah, that article reads like a bunch of Boise State propaganda. But obviously it would take a big offer and great situation to get Petersen to leave. I'd love to have him, I think he could win a NC here, but I think we would have to give him 4-5 million a year to come here and I don't see our boosters doing that for this guy for some reason, maybe because he doesn't seem like he'd fit in with the good ole boys or whatever.

I don't think money is a concern for him. Some people are just happy where they are. If he is making 2 mil/year then he and his family are financially secure and happy living in Boise. Sometimes that outweighs lots of money thrown at you by a pressure cooker like the SEC.
