We really really need him for ready for this game as it is very winnable with him. Now that his cast is off, I hope he can return early. Ainge played with a broken thumb the majority of his last year if memory serves correct. Not saying the situation is completely the same...but we need him in a bad way....7-5 would make this year much more bearable. Would have blown SC out with him.

Agree in that Bray wouldn't have thrown that pick at the goalline after P-Schwagg's int., or that pick into double coverage after the fumble.

Arkansas is trickier, even with Bray. Our offense isn't the problem. It's the D. I think Petrino will use the midle of the field against AJ and Maggit, especially since AJ is a bit slow in pass D, and throw intermediate crossing routes to Wright and their TE - Gragg for big gains. Look for Joe Adams to have a big game too - our secondary has just been too scorched this year for me to think otherwise

If Bray is 100% sure he's ready by Arkansas I'd say play him. But even with him our secondary will struggle, I'd rather make sure he's 100% by Vandy.

He will be out of the cast by Monday. Then, they will start a strenuous Strength and Conditioning cycle dedicated solely to his thumb. They plan to run his thumb on a treadmill, followed by a weight lifting session, where his thumb will be required to bench at least 5 pounds. Eventually, they will work the thumb up to squats and deadlifts.

Hopefully, the thumb will be strong enough, eventually, to play DL too

Not likely, his earliest slated recovery time was had him returning by the vandy game or UK game (expected surgery included)

Geez, even with our mediocre run game, we can beat Arky with Bray...I would much rather see him ready for Arky.

You know the morale of the fans is really low when the new standard is to just beat Vandy. That is just plain giving up.

I win over Arky would finally get that big SEC win thing off Dooley's back and would do wonders for our young player's confidence heading into next season. So far they are used to losing....we NEED this win. A win over Vandy does nothing for confidence. I say it's worth the risk of bringing him back early.

If anyone has been watching Arky lately, they know Wilson has been really off lately. If you get in his face early and throw his rythm off, he will throw picks. Vandy should have had 4 last week against him. AJ Johnson and Magitt are both much better players than even just a few games ago and with Lathers, we shouldn't have a problem at the LB position.

come on guys.
we don't beat arky.....
our D has made most qb's look like world beaters and will do the same for Arky.....
they will run and throw on us.... it will be a long day..
wish it was different..but its not.

Did you read my post at all? I said if Bray is ready, play him. If he's not ready, save him for Vandy. Calm down champ.

Either he can grip the ball and throw it or he can't. If he can, he'll play. Seems like it might be a little premature to expect him to be able to do that just 5 days after getting the cast off, but hey, what do I know.

We have to score in the 30's to even have a chance. I'd say playing with an under 100 percent Bray takes us from being an overwhelming longshot to just a regular longshot

CDD has made statements that Bray is probably out for the year, and then said he's week to week. Just about the same thing he's said about Lathers.

no. it would not matter anyway. save him for vandy, we have to win that game. this injury was serious, do not rush him back into a game the vols can't win.

What defense have you been watching? I think our D is 42nd nationally by yards given up and 21st in scoring, which is pretty amazing given our schedule, experience and talent level, and how long they've been left on the field. The O is our problem, not our D. I'm liking me some Wilcox for the future.

:good!:

Imagine if they weren't playing the whole game too.

... and I can remember so many wanna-be coaches on here that were complaining about our defense at the beginning of the year.

Given the lack of overall talent, especially in the secondary, and lack of size up front, I am very pleased with the results from the defense this season.

Maybe Texas knew something at the end of last season when it was reported they were after Wilcox.

If we can't beat Arky then odds are we can't beat Vandy. Their QB scrambles well when the play breaks down and will give our LBs more problems than Arky IMO. Also, their defense is head and shoulders better than Arky's.

The defense is improving and Wilcox's schemes appear to be solid when looking at everything together, but Joseph has got to go. Everyone in the secondary lacks proper fundamentals and fail to turn their hips properly when covering time after time again.

Your really comparing Arkansas, the #7 team in the nation, to Vandy?

If were going to make the talent argument for CDD, look at what CTJ has to work with.

Brewer - wasn't playing up to expectations and is now hurt.
JJ - easily the bright spot coming in, we all know how that turned out.
Teague - was playing WR 2 years ago.
Coleman - promising TRUE FROSH
Lanier - looks ok but its his first year in the system
Moore - was supposed to be a difference maker, came in fat.
Randolph - another promising TRUE FROSH

Other than P Swags, he really doesn't have any consistent guys to work with(yet). In addition we know that even P Swags changes positions every 14.8 seconds, not a whole lot of consistency.

I say give CTJ another year.

then, by that, we'll lose both games.
