Any bright spots for next year....

Yes, that would be lucky, then we could fire our coach..

But we won't, and we will finish with 8 wins, a who cares bowl loss, and another raise..

So by firing Fulmer we automatically become better? I dont see the logic in that. Can someone please explain to me why they believe without Fulmer we become a national championship contender? Seriously, I'd like a good explaination.

The only BRIGHT spots we will have next year is....

1. Meachem comes back. He did nothing today to prove to ANYONE he is a first round pick.

Yep. For some odd reason he was remarkably ineffective today and looked rather average. He dropped a couple of potentially game changing passes and looked slow, like he might have the flu. Penn State watched the Arkansas tape b/c they pestered him like Arkansas did.

2. EA is back for his senior year and improves more under Cutcliffe.

Yes, but I wonder if this is just keeping better talent from developing for the sake of playing the senior?

3. Troop gets the WRs even better than this year, and proves himself to be a better motivator than Fulmer EVER has been.

Trooper will leave for a coordinator position very soon..that's my prediction. He has proven himself a player developer and wants to grow his career past what UT has to offer him.

4. Cutcliffe raises our PPG 3 more points.

In essense, 3 head footballl coaches (Fulmer, Cut and potentially Chavis) just got beat by a Penn State coordinator...not good, I don't care who you are.

5. Foster and Coker are going to rush for a combined average of 160 YPG.

Depends on the line and whether Foster can hang on to the ball and quit running his mouth about playing time and blocking.

6. Rico McCoy.

That's about it. If we continue to run a 13 year old defense that has NOT changed in that time, then we go 7-5 or 8-4 again and are STILL a MEDIOCORE team for the next 3 years.

I'd like to see UT adopt VTech's inverted cover 2...we have ample speed to add that to a solid package. Vtech wreaks havok on QB's when they do that and it can't be read by a QB ahead of time...completely stealth.

With great coaching, Morely can be great.

But we don't have great coaching...

You have just answered the 64 dollar question correctly....TELL HIM WHAT HE'S WON.

Absolutely nothing. With the extension that UT is gonna give Fulmer for leading us into mediocraty, we have no money to give at this time. Sorry bout that.

If we ran a 3-3-5 I would be absolutely the happiest person in the world. We just don't have the balls to blitz more than 3 times a game anymore so it won't work anyways. *Sigh*

the only reason you're saying this is because of today's performance. if we won the game, you'd be saying "definite BCS bowl/SEC title next year."

to put it into perspective, this is a HUGE improvement from last season with a LONG way to go.

ummm no. even with a win today, an SEC title looks bleak. i hope it happens but i'm not going to get my hopes up. we are losing depth at wr, the secondary, and the d-line. and our offensive line has not impressed me hardly any this season. i think our one bright spot lies with Coker. If he could get some good blocking he has the potential to be one of the best backs in UT history. I dont ever remember having a back that fast, at least since Jay Graham. And Graham isn't even in the same category as Coker when it comes to speed.

Best thing about next year is that it is a full 8 months away.....

worst thing...it is only 8 months away.

The lack of inspired play continues to kill us. Does anyone remember when the Vols played with pride. These days, if it looks like we are out of the running for an SEC title or a BCS bowl, we just don't care. That goes for players and coaches alike. Something is broke in Knoxville. I don't think a new coach will fix it. It is deeper than that. I was watching some other games and noticed that many former players come to stand on the sidelines to watch their alma mater play in a bowl. When was the last time (minus Peyton) that has happened at UT? I'm not sure the players care about the T on the helment anymore. It is their draft status that matters most. When they leave, they are gone and don't care about the University anymore. Just my observation.

also, I wish our football team played with HALF the heart our basketball team plays with every game.

ugh.
