Catan is a favorite for us. Lots of expansions and different versions
Just bought Catan but need to get more than 2 people to really get the full value out of it. I have Gloomhaven which I thoroughly enjoy but again I struggle getting more players.

yeah Catan can drag with just two people.

I have made a couple house rules that help overall enjoy ability imo.

no 7s until the third round to help with early game building.
always go to 11 points, not 10. we have a couple power players who somehow always get 10 before anyone else is at 5. but for whatever reason that last point evens things out. would not do for 2 players
Multiple 7s in a row. If a player goes on a streak of 7s they start taking more than 1 resource.
Buying roads. we have started letting other players be able to buy out unconnected roads. A lot of times you have a player who starts to build one way but then gets cut off so ends up with some worthless roads. so when it was another players turn they could offer to buy out that road segment(s). the buyer has to have enough to build their own roads plus whatever the seller wants. this so rarely happens we might as well not have the rule, only really matters for bigger games. 4/6 players

My wife and I play Catan and Ticket to Ride a lot with just the two of us. We recently got ticket to ride junior for the kids. It is fun. I think it will be no time before the 9 year old is playing regular with us maybe even the 6 year old as well. Recently played forbidden island which is fun, but I am not sure i am into cooperative games. Forbidden desert was fun and a little more challenging. Recently purchased Santorini for the whole family to play.

Munchkin is the best game I have played in years. Do it.

I recently picked up a dice game called Unearth that is fun. Lots of setup but it plays fast. Mice and Mystics is awesome. We play Catan, Card Against Humanity, and Carcassonne a lot as well.

This will be my next pickup.

I've been getting into chess lately. I've been studying openings and checkmate patterns.

Still have miles to go before I actually get good though. :)

Edit: damn spellcheck.

Anyone big into board/card games? Would love hear what you got/like to play.
A few months ago I found a super old school Risk game at Goodwill with all the original pieces and everything in great shape. It was the version that had the clear plastic cases for the armies. Not the original version of course but a great find!

One of my favorite board games is an old Sports Illustrated football game called Bowl Bound. It’s about as well as you can make a football board game and is cool because it has college teams from various years. Did you ever want to see how 1985 UT would stack up against 1988 Notre Dame? Play it and see!

Ticket to Ride good? Seen it listed a few times. What about the variations? Looks like Walmart has a Ticket to Ride: London for $10. Seems to be a cheaper way to try it. Good or bad idea? Probably just me and the wife for the most part.

Some friends gave us Unstable Unicorns. Any good? Looked like an interesting card game.

Ticket to ride is good if you like the kinda random strategy aspect. Never played the London version. Might just be a different map, idk?
