I am anxious to see who brings the energy back to Rocky Top. With Hamilton buying Fulmer out you can guarantee we are going to get a top of the line coach. Watch out SEC the vols will be back!

I believe Lane Kiffin will be able to bring the Volnation back to its gloryland of old. With his tenure at USC under Carrol he was a big time recruiter helping bring in people like Patrick Turner and Dwayne Jarrett. Plus he's a GREAT coach!

There is a lot of big fish Hamilton can choose from...Our program has slide in the last 5 to 6 years under fulmer. I feel for the guy, however, it was time for a change. I can see us bringing in Kiffin, Muschamp, or Petersen from Boise.

Peterson will not be the coach. His religious preferences will not be a good fit in the southeast.

What's that? Scientology? You'll find everything here that you do everywhere else...sheesh...and I know few who would give a rip these days.

:clapping: I think it is time to wake up.... As much as
I would like to have a big name coach, I honestly don't think Cower, Gruden or very many other big name coaches will give us the time of day.. I know we would all like to think so, but it just ain't happening.. Why would anyone want to come here if you have already made a name for yourself? Why would you want to compete with Myers, Richt, Miles or Saban if you didn't have to? Plus do you really want to come to a school that has dissed the last 2 coaches the way they have been treated? We all see it through rose colored glasses as we love UT and a couple million is a lot of money to us.. But UT is just another college program to other big name coaches plus most of the don't see a couple mil the same way we do, because they already have a boat load of money...I'm not trying to miff anyone off just trying to be honest.... My blood runs orange & I hope we get the best coach out there, but it just doesn't add up if you step back and look at from an outsider's view...Myers wasn't the 1st coach after Spurrier left Florida, Nor was Saban the first coach after Bear Bryant..What would make you think we would get an instant big name?

I hope what we gain in 'fresh blood' is enough to overcome what we've lost in 'Tennessee tradition.'

because some coaches are not as risk-averse as you seem to be

If people really read into some of these names being thrown out, its kinda dumb. Chris Peterson could never hack it in the SEC, and I really think the first guy we look at should be John Chavis. He has been one of the most consistent coordinators in our program for as long as he has been coaching. The next one on that list should be Jon Gruden. He was a GA at Tennessee in the 80's and he said he wanted to coach in the NCAA after he was done in the NFL. I think this would be a great home for him. Cutcliffe would be awesome, but with the work he's done at Duke he wouldn't leave. I think we need to look at coaches from the Tennessee family. Dave Clawson is an obvious reason why hiring from outside that family doesn't work out. If Chavis were to be the HC, we should try and get Kevin Steele away from Bama to be our DC, and make him the eventual HC. I just hope we don't make another stupid move, that's not what this program needs!

Kiffin is a proven OC....Head coach, not so much. I don't think UT can afford to go w/ an unknown for HC. We did it w/ Clawson and look what happened? A PROVEN head coach is needed.

Charlie Strong, DC Florida would be great even if he didn't work out.. Myers got mad about Drayton.. He would have a stroke if we hired Strong..Don't think it will happen, but it sure would be funny to see Myer's face

How is Chavis a stupid move?! What exactly has he done that proves he couldn't do it? Is it by having the 11th ranked defense this year, when talent at the corners has been lackluster, and our complete defense has all but 2 names that people know nationally, McCoy and Berry? He has proven he can handle his kids and commands respect. I would take him over any other jackass out there that has done well against ****** competition (Peterson). Barely beating Oklahoma in a bowl game doesn't mean he's a good coach, just saying people need to open their eyes. A guy from the SEC is where we dig from, no where else because no other conference can compare to the tough games we play each week. Check the schedule, ranked 11th and we've played Florida, Georgia, Bama, and Auburn. 2nd to Bama in the SEC, just saying. We need a change, and if Chavis leaves after a revamp, then this team is going to face more than a few years of losing seasons, he's the only guy that we have who is worth a damn on the coaching staff. Statistics don't lie
