It's great to see him playing well. While he doesn't produce a noticeable amount of offense (he still got 10pts vs Iowa and 18pts vs Mercer), his defense and leadership have been sparks for the team.

Hopefully he can stay hot from behind the arc and not force shots again Michigan.

Barton can score. Thompson is afraid to shoot. Scared he might miss. How many times have you seen this 6"5" guard wide open and pass the ball?

He does tend to shoot airballs though. Hopefully he'll be more confident next year.

Martin said yesterday on 104.5 here that the season turned when Barton was reinserted in the lineup and became the on floor leader. He has run the team well, and that's overlooked. You don't have a team on a run like this, with Stokes/jrich/mcrae all getting their looks if the pg isn't running the team well.
One of the simple, but effective for this team, things he has done is get the ball on the wing, make space, create and angle and hit Stokes on his hand to get the offense moving. He then either spots up or cuts. Without creating that angle and going ahead to feed the post, we would be feeding it back out 40 feet and setting up a play with the shot clock going down. His d has been good and he has hit his ft's. Let's see if he can keep it up. He's going to take a couple of wtf shots, but I'd rather him be confident than scared to pull the trigger.

His D on Chaz Williams was fantastic. He's done a much better job protecting the ball.

He had a really good game against Mercer and might have found his shot.

He will hit 7 of 10 on an inside out game from the wing and key area. Don't like the corner as much, but his confidence goes up with that feed.

Underrated stat from the Mercer game: Stokes had five assists also.

It's amazing how much better looks you get when reset where you were after you go into the post. Moving without the ball has finally happened the last three weeks.

I watched only a few regular season games this year but in those games Thompson had some really good moments. Maybe he hasn't played well of late but I think he could end up being a great player. Imo better than hubbs

Thompson needs to pick his intensity up and work on a college 3 pt shot. Never seen anyone shoot well with such a shaky and narrow base.

Seems like a lot of games, Barton hitting 3s is the key. Opens it up more for Stokes & Maymon...of course it helps when Richardson & McRae are bombing away too!

New shot, strength, and confidence is about all he needs to be a great PG... I love what I see so far

His shot really is ugly though, but it shouldn't take too long to change

Thompson always makes good / incredible passes when he is in the game, especially when he gets in transition. I agree the rest of his game needs major work, but you can't teach that sort of vision. His passes against Iowa lead to at least 3 fouls to stop open layups.

Games are won in the tourney with PG play. I hope Barton continues to play well. I think we'll end up winning or losing based on how he'll play this weekend. With Richardson stepping up his game, every starter is dangerous.
