Anthony Bourdain Found Dead

MDMA? Pop a couple 5HTP pills before, during and after, it helps balance you out when you come down.

This is actually dangerous. You run the risk of seratonin syndrome, which is fatal, if you take 5-htp directly before or while on MDMA. 24 hours after and you're good to go.

I always really enjoyed his shows and he appeared to be a genuine person. There’s speculation that he’s got a shady past that’s about to get exposed (not unlike Kevin Spacey, Weinstein, etc.) and that’s the reason for the suicide. Hopefully not true.

Interesting how some seem to think they know all about it and tell others how ignorant they are.

If he killed himself because bad stuff about to come out and he didn’t want to deal with it, then yeah that is selfish. But I saw “speculation”, which is hardly anything remotey close to proof.

But so far it’s been a blanket judgement of selfishness, regardless of if he had depression or not (he did have it btw), and sorry, that it ignorant.

Yeah suicide Tuesday. It hit my wife and I exactly at the same time. We were walking around the airport and all of a sudden we looked at each other both asking "WTF do I feel weird?". She called in sick to work the next two days. I grinded through it, but it sucked. We were amateurs, LOL.

It's so much more physiological than you think.

It never really hit me like that, probably because I was only sober enough to sleep back then. But I saw people just lose their minds, one guy used to cut himself as he came down, it was ****ed up.

Okay, so it was speculation and just rumor. Him taking his life was in no way selfish?

Lol....whatever you makes you feel better.

Has nothing to do with how I feel. I think its ignorant for anyone to speak as though they know, but clearly don't.

I haven't heard if he spoke to his daughter about this before he actually did it, but I would think if he did, she probably would have begged him not to.

Have you heard why he was depressed or what may have caused the depression?

You mean like declaring something is a selfish act despite not knowing anything about was going on in his brain, how much help he tried to get, or anything involving it? You mean that kind of ignorance. You can't accuse me of ignorance yet do what you just did. At best by your own logic, we're both ignorant.

Of course his daughter would beg him; she's already likely the reason he didn't do this 10 years ago. People throw out stuff like this yet ignore that family and friends probably are the reason they've hung on as long as they have.

What caused his depression? I have no idea. Depression has tons of likely causes. He had admitted drug problems in the past, they could have led to it or he may have been taking drugs to cope with it. After all that has been discovered about depression, there is still many things not known and every case is different, so maybe it would be more beneficial to not put judgement labels on the actions of an irrational mind state.

I think the point was you’re the one calling everyone in this thread wrong, ignorant, arrogant, high and mighty, etc. because they believe suicide in general is a selfish act.

It’s not an uncommon view. Wives get left behind to raise kids alone, deal with financial issues, etc. Kids grow up with one parent.

Many of these folks who take their own lives have issues with depression, obviously. It doesn’t mean they’re selfish people and they may even have good intentions, but suicide is often seen as a selfish act in many cases because of the burden it puts on those who are left behind.

Thought we got axed.

I have no problem admitting I'm ignorant or wrong, when I am. Its hard for me to understand how you can post the above and not see what I'm talking about.

I'm not arguing the act itself was purely motivated by selfishness, it seems that you think I am. But no doubt selfishness was involved, its even evident to me in your post.

I have struggled with depression and suicidal thoughts in the past. Fortunately, I have been healthy in that regards for almost ten years now.

It’s hard to explain but when I was depressed, I felt that my death would be beneficial for my wife and family. It would free them from having to deal with me. I felt like a pathetic excuse of a husband and a father. Everything was dark. Terrible disease - I am sorry to read these stories about suicides.

I love how now suicide is like this glamorous event. My flipboard newsfeed on my Samsung phone is full of great things Bourdain said, did, philosophoes8, etc.

He took a cowardly way out. But in this upside down world he is to be admired.

This probably isn't the thread for it, but if you're interested I can help you out with a supplement regimen that will greatly help with that. I nerd out on drug safety/harm reduction. My wife and I follow it and always feel great.

I'm fairly certain he only smokes pot, as his wife is carrying my child.
