Answers I seek on Saturday

This Saturday won’t answer much I don’t believe unless it’s a disaster on our end. Syracuse was god awful in rush defense last year. Combine that with Syracuse coach being former DB coach at UGA I don’t think this will be the week we are connecting on deep balls. Their coach will know what he wants to do game plan wise which is limit big plays. Question is can he do anything about run game while trying to play 2 high safeties. Anyone banged up I imagine will see limited playing time if at all possible.

I hope to see a lot of Ethan Davis in the pass game. I believe he will be a tough matchup in pass coverage for a lot of teams. Let Matthews and Brazzell take the top off and let Davis work the middle of the field.
I actually like Brame a lot. I think he could end up our best pass catching TE. He's a future star at TE and will play early and often in his career. JMO

Most of those questions are the kind asked every year.

The key one is can Aguilar hit open receivers including a few deep shots. The success of the run game last year was a testimony to just how good the OL and RBs were. Nico really didn't hit enough deep shots or find open guys regularly enough to pull D's out of the box.

That's supposed to be Aguilar's strength..If he can connect and be consistent with his deep passes, our offense could be dangerous. With our run game, there should definitely be opportunities for some deep shots. Hell, he can't be any worse than Milton and Nico on his deep shots.

This is probably somewhere else but, I can't find it. 1) Can we win on the road against a non-top 20 team? 2) Are all the games on ESPN. ESPN+, ABC, FOX, SECN, SECN+, ACC Network viewable on my TV/Xfinity Comcast? 3) Will the dentist be successful in relieving my painful tooth by the weekend? 4) Does Aguilar come out and just play lights out scoring, running, thinking, playing. and not getting sacked or making too many errors/mistakes?
#1 - Yes. That's happened 5 times under Heupel (2021 Missouri, 2022 LSU and Vandy, 2023 Kentucky, 2024 Vandy). He's also beaten other teams on the road who were ranked just inside the top 20 (2021 Kentucky, 2022 Pitt, 2024 Oklahoma)
#2 - That depends on what cable package you have. ESPN+/SECN+ are over the top channels that you have to pay additionally for.
#3 - If not, just get drunk
#4 - I doubt it, because I don't think they'll ask him to do that. If we play well against Syracuse and win, I imagine the game will look a lot like games we won last year (strong defense and running game).

Syracuse is starting a 17-year-old (get ready to hear that 50x on the broadcast) reclassified true freshman at one of their corner spots. I imagine we'll lean heavily on the running game, but I'll be disappointed if we don't take a few shots downfield to test him. I'd love to see us do that a few times, especially if we can get into some second and short situations.

I'm actually on the other end. I don't believe Syr has the players or scheme to stop deep shots. It's one thing to know it's coming, but much different than being able to stop it. I can see a few deep shots being connected on and quite a few attempted. I could see Syracuse selling out to stopping the run and making JA beat them on mids and deep shots. We all know CJH loves to start games with all gas and no brakes.

I don't think we will learn much of anything until week 3. I'm thinking Saturday will be mostly conservative "ground and pound" while resting the weary. Just my opinion.

GBO
Not sure this will be the case with many ?s on both sides of the ball. Our offense can’t afford to be vanilla and sleepwalk into week 3. Week 3 could be ugly if our first teams don’t get some serious, 1st team reps in. You can’t replicate game speed and conditioning in practice. This is where the rubber meets the road.

In 2022 he did, because he trusted HH. I think we were something like 10-3 or 9-4 in covering the Q1 spread that year.

In 2023 and 2024 he did not because he didn't have the QB.

I looking for different kinds of answers…both relating to the LOS
1) Will we be able to pressure the QB without blitzing? I expect we will again be good at stopping the run but Syracuse will most likely come out throwing so pressuring the QB will be key. If we have to blitz to get pressure our DBs will have to give cushion and it will look like the OSU game.
2) Will the new OL lead the way so we can again be a dominant rushing team. That will take so much pressure off Aguilar and force their D to expose their secondary.

It will be a major disappointment if Matthews and Brazzell don't take him to school. I would go after him on the first play from scrimmage.

Don't jinx us... 'cause I've been thinking the same thing. I know it is highlights but some of the throws shown in his videos are exactly what this O needs. Heupel will probably keep him out of the middle of the field which will help with INTs.

Hooker had 9 TDs and 5 INTs when Burmeister beat him out and sent him packing to UT. I believe the next fall he was 33/3.

Will McCoy Dress.
Will Hobbs dress.
Will Kitselman play, if so, how much.
Will Boo play, if so, how much and where?
Who starts at center?
What 3 WR start and who is #4?
Rotation of RB’s.
Do we use TE and RB much in passing game?
Does JA Seem comfortable in pocket and on move?
For me, it all comes down to the QB. Do we have one?

Might be 17, but I doubt he will be the impact player Williams is....at least I hope not. Although we do tend to make some players look like Heisman candidates at times.

Not based on 2024 season stats. Hopefully all 3 of the TEs are targeted often this season because I think they can take a lot of the pressure off the WRs and give Aguilar reliable outlets to move the chains.

Davis is a better receiver than Kitsleman, he just didn't get near the playing time or targets last season (and probably won't again this season) cause the coaches love Kitsleman.

That tends to be just backup QBs from UF.

Williams was also an uber-recruit with an almost perfect rating on 247. Samuel is "only" a 4-star.

I'd agree that Davis is potentially a better receiver than Kitselman, but from a game production standpoint it hasn't happened yet. If Kitselman is getting more time because he's a better blocker then by all means it is the right decision. He's plenty capable enough as a receiver where you wouldn't want to sacrifice run blocking and pass protection just to get the more athletic Davis on the field. I keep reading that Brame is the one with elite receiving skills as a TE. Hopefully we go with 2 TEs a lot this season.

I like our depth at TE this year. It will be interesting to see how Heupel creates mismatches with that position group in the passing game.

5) Will YTTV and Fox settle their dispute or will I have to move to FUBO?

I also believe they are going to keep the playbook close to the vest as they prep for week 3. I would not be surprised if they way we play week 1 is a 180 from how we play week 3.
