they provide cheaper prices if we want them. i just never turned in the form. the coaches recruit the guys they want, but anyone who attends the college can join the team.... so wouldn't that cost too much money?

When you say join the team, do you mean try out?

they will let anyone who wants to play join the team. obviously, if you aren't in good enough shape or can't handle it, or just plain suck, you will either fizzle out or be asked to leave. regardless, do D3 schools usually buy their players' shoes?
