Another Year, another bad decision at QB

If I remember correctly, Hooker got us into the end zone 3 times in the second half. The pick was a big no no, but he definitely moved the ball in the air and with his feet. I liked what I saw from him overall. A couple more starts and he might very well settle down and do the job. If we go back to Milton, get out the life rafts because we’re screwed.

I can cosign this.

There's reaching, and then there's this. Did it ever occur to you that he keeps to himself at this point because he realizes the absurdity and dishonesty of his coach keeping him on the bench for these other two clowns?
It occurred to me CJH might know more about QB's than you.

Not here to argue I'm just curious what you plan to do about it. I may want to help, if it's a good plan.
I have a simple solution: don't wait for three years for a turd to suddenly morph into gold.

Boycott until the administration and power boosters realize they no longer have a cash cow regardless of how apathetically and cavalierly they approach running it, until they realize their cow might stop producing milk unless they start giving a damn for a change and do what other top programs do when they need a coach to get them out of bad times, i.e. spend the money to get a good one.

Or, better yet, not put their unconscionable sanctimony above the good of this cultural institution that is UT football, that means a lot to millions of people, that has one of the ten best traditions in college football, and instead of treating it like a Yugo they want to get a hundred more miles out of before they junk it, actually treat it like the Ferrari it once was, and could be again if they started giving a damn. We could have had Freeze or Kiffin either one for this hire, and it's indefensible and unconscionable that they hired this guy over either of those. If we had either of those coaches now, the best QB would be playing, we wouldn't have gotten 13 penalties today, and we sure as hell would not have run out of the shotgun on fourth-and-goal. Bailey sure as hell would not have turned the ball over three times; he also would not have missed all those WRs running wide open down the middle of the field. Translation, we would have won, and soundly, with a better coach today, as Freeze and Kiffin inarguably are. And we would be optimistic, rightfully so, for the first time in many years, because we would finally have a good coach and be headed in the right direction. But we don't, and we aren't.

He's got one now! Two guys that have not gotten it done and one that looked pretty good last year as a freshman in spite of having an incompetent coach.

With Milton at QB, all the D has to do is play press man-to-man and load the box. Milton can't beat a team deep, so all you have to do is stuff the run and take away the short passes, which is what Pitt did. If you've got a QB that can hit the deep pass (Bailey), the entire field opens up.
I agree, bailey looked better last year with incompetent coaches, no spring, covid practice, playing behind last years crap coached line against sec defenses

Yes, he's clearly a genius! It's proven by that amazing QB he started last week and this week.
Well tell us why he should play Bailey.?
Im sure you have been to all the practices
Please enlighten us with your expertise.

That sideline shot right there where Milton was consoling Hooker. That's why Milton is the starter. Tennessee fans want the former Bailey but you NEVER see him do stuff like that. Milton isn’t very good but at least he leads
I hear what you’re saying but being a leader isn’t quite enough to win football games. I’ve never seen a guy overthrow so many open receivers in my life. It’s mind boggling.

Only thing I can figure is, is that he ain't a runner. But if you watch his games last year, he ran when needed and picked up yards. Bailey deserves a chance over Hooker. HH sucked in orange white game. Bailey killed it. Idc if it was backups on defense.
Bingo!

Maybe try reading? Or watching?

1. 70.6% completion percentage as a true freshman, with no spring practice, against UF, A&M, Auburn, and other SEC competition
2. 2:1 TD/INT ratio against same SEC competition
3. Only 2 turnovers in six games - neither Milton nor Hooker has had a game yet where he didn't turn the ball over at least twice in one game, against vastly inferior competition, and they're both seniors
4. Only 5-star QB on the roster, and every other college football fan and analyst in America has seen what we have and thinks Bailey should be the starter

Not as bad as what we’ve had the past 3 years
I don’t know, even JG could make a lot of those throws. Isn’t this Milton’s third year? If he was going to correct his throwing mechanics, he would have done it by now. I want to be wrong about this more than anything, but I don’t see him getting better. I hope he proves me wrong.

Got to give Bailey a fair shot. I don’t understand coaches, and what goes on in their heads. Is he that bad in practice. I doubt it

The offensive scheme from the first to the second quarter of the pit game shows what happens when the play-callers abandon the deep ball because the quarterback can't execute. When Milton got hurt they brought in another one who can't see the field.

Bailey is the only QB that can execute a passing offense. Lets just run the triple option if we keep Milton as our starter.

It's aggravating after watching JG for what seamed like eternity.

This sums up my Vols -https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rNi-q-BkXk

How many times did Milton overthrow his receivers? I wasn't counting.
Counted 4…but those were deep passes. There were some sideline routes that went haywire too I believe.

Show us the way! We’re (way) behind you…but we’ll catch up! Haven’t been this fired up since those # EmptyNeyland prophets parted the Red SEC. 😴

You can't use sound reasoning with some people. Seems like they want the next Cam Newton or Lamar Jackson. Hooker's definitely better than Milton but turnover prone. From what I've seen Bailey's the best QB we have.
