Another shot at UGA in the playoffs

No, but I think he is better than JG when it comes to throwing the ball. JG limits his risky throws, which is a good strategy to win low scoring games. I also think A&M has a much better OC who can scheme WRs open.
Why has Chaney been successful everywhere he has been but suddenly forget how to scheme? Does that seem logical to you? JG has had 4 different OC and all forgot how to scheme? Seems odd to me.

Why do so many people think that the Vols will try to get better but forget that future opponents will try to improve?

UT is still a the kid table at Thanksgiving. Playoffs are for the real teams at the adult table. If you lose to Alabama, Florida, and Georgia every year you stay where you belong.

If we can win out the team will get another shot at UGA in the playoffs.. I think the Oline has a lot to prove & will play with a chip on their shoulders the rest of the way

Love the optimism, but the O/U for UT is back to 5.5 for 2020. No way this team beats Bama, and I'll believe we can beat UF when we do it.

Ain't gonna be no playoff for UT this year. Next year? Maybe, but we are clearly a blue-chip QB away from even having that conversation.

Go Vols.

Doesn't take rocket scientist to know we lost to a better team but we will play teams that see the blueprint and they're all going to come in and challenge us to beat them with the worst qb in the conference. JG is a 5th yr Sr and should be able to know the clock in his head. No excuses for not checking down and hot routing as a 5th yr guy. I approach things objectively and Bama, Fla, aTm, KY, etc all have good defensive fronts.

Yea, but you can’t adopt Georgia’s blueprint for D unless you have the players to implement...and outside of Bama, nobody is even close. And based on how Ole Miss shredded Bama yesterday, they aren’t in the same league as Georgia.

The point you are missing is there is only 2 tier one teams this year but 4 playoff spots. We can still have a dream season!

The point you are missing is that Clemson will get one of those spots, as will the winner of Bama/UGA. The loser of Bama / UGA might still sneak in. Then you have ND (ugh), Ohio State, PennSate, and likely another dark horse out there somewhere. OKST?

Like I said, love the optimism, but you are not looking at this with a realistic assessment of where UT is at this point. We are, at least, a year away. How about we win our division, and then we can start talking about winning the conference, and making the playoff?

Go Vols.

I don't see a third-best team in the nation right now. We have the top two Georgia and Clemson then everyone else. We could still win out and lose to Georgia or Clemson in the playoffs. Alabama does not scare me because their defense is hot garbage. Florida does not scare me because their defense is hot garbage. A&M does not scare me because they got blown out by Alabama whos defense is hot garbage.

Alabama may be more beatable now, but they have some offensive weapons that are gonna be hard to stop. I don't think we have a mobile QB (that we are going to use) to beat them either. Overall, they should have enough talent top-to-bottom to beat us.

Now, Florida on the other hand...

Problem is, we say that every year, but I do believe we are in or just about in their league now. By the end of the year, who knows? We may be up to that challenge.

I'm nowhere near as optimistic about Auburn, TXAM, and Arkansas as I was a week ago. Add in UF at the end, and if we split the games I'm worried about, this is a 6-4 team. And it could get worse. You trust JG against any of those 4? I certainly don't.

Bama will cover the spread, whatever it is, if JG is our QB.

Go Vols.

BTW, Georgia gave up twice as many TDs to us yesterday as they have given up all season...

I am saying we don't have to even win our division to make the playoff. At the moment I am not convinced that anyone left on our schedule is better than we are right now.

Kirby Dumb won’t be there.

As we saw yesterday in the SEC, you can't take anything for granted this year. But if I had to lay money now, I'd take Kirby to be the first Saban assistant to beat him. In the SECCG. This year.

OTOH, I'm wrong a lot, so...

Bama will beat us. TXAM, Auburn, and Arkansas are coin tosses. JMO, as you stated yours.

It's not about which one of us is right, it's about 4 teams that have decent-to-dangerous QB's -vs- 1 team that does not. There's your difference.

I hear ya. I don’t think they will beat Florida. We laid an egg yesterday in the second half. They are good but their dirty dumb players will fall short.

After the last decade I don’t take any games for granted. I’d like to be able to take Vandy for granted but other than that they will all be a fight. Kentucky is very one dimensional so we should be able to keep their scoring low - hopefully 17- 21 points wins it for us but hopefully We’ll get much more.

looking at the others, I think Arkansas is better than I thought, Auburn is worse and A&M about as I figured. All three are winnable but we must play well and be mistake free. I think Bama will just out score us. We have a chance against Florida if we can run the ball and wear them down.

8-2 is probably the best outcome possible but with a full meltdown we could go 4-6...I think 6-4 or 7-3 is realistic.

I wonder how many NC contenders (besides us) have rushed for (-1) yards in a game that same season? We might just make history!

I’ve seen WRs running with no defenders in sight against every SEC team we’ve played over the past 2 years. However I haven’t seen our WRs running with no defenders in sight against those teams over the same time period. Our offense is very similar to Bama’s. Bama’s offense works b/c they have anywhere from 5 to 11 future draft picks on it at all times.

As for Chaney, UGA was happy to see him leave. Chaney was worth it when Pittman came with him. By himself Chaney isn’t very good.
