The head-to-head argument has more validity if all teams play a balanced schedule. If I’m not mistaken, South Carolina only had to play one other team in the top 6 twice . . . Tennessee. Tennessee had to play South Carolina, Alabama, and Kentucky twice. South Carolina has had an extremely favorable SEC schedule. Even if they win tomorrow night, I have no doubt South Carolina would have a worse record than Tennessee if they’d played the same schedule.

Teams probably weren't playing 30 regular season games and 18 conference games in the '30s or even later decades before the tourney, as they are now. Conference tourneys now are a waste of time and energy. They make a little sense for smaller conferences, given them a chance to get a second team in the dance. But P5 teams have 30 games to show whether the deserve an NCAA bid or not--they don't need another chance in the tourney. Bu I agree: It's all about DE MONEY and so everyone will keep pretending they mean something.

Conference tournaments hurt the one bid leagues a lot of the time when their regular season champion fails to win the tournament as well.

USCe played the easiest SEC schedule. Tennessee played the hardest SEC schedule.

Pretty sure that was a senior day blowout. Both Lofton and JaJuan had good games that day if my memory serves me well.

Then less than a week later we had to scratch and claw to win a nail biter against the same SC team in the SEC Tournament. Later that day was when the tornado hit the Georgia Dome.

Wow, time flies. My wife and I were attending a baby shower for us while she was pregnant with our twins the Saturday when this happened.

They will turn 16, next month. 🥹
