The head-to-head argument has more validity if all teams play a balanced schedule. If I’m not mistaken, South Carolina only had to play one other team in the top 6 twice . . . Tennessee. Tennessee had to play South Carolina, Alabama, and Kentucky twice. South Carolina has had an extremely favorable SEC schedule. Even if they win tomorrow night, I have no doubt South Carolina would have a worse record than Tennessee if they’d played the same schedule.
