(WVLT) -- Knoxville Police have released the names of two women shot Wednesday afternoon at Inskip Elementary in North Knoxville, and police say they've arrested a man believed to the the shooter, Knoxville Police spokesman Darrell DeBusk says.
Knoxville Police Chief Sterling Owen says Inskip Principal Elisa Luna and Assistant Principal Amy Brace were shot.
Owen says both victims appear to have "a good chance of surviving."
Knox County Schools Superintendent Dr. Jim McIntyre says the alleged shooter was authorized to be in the school, but would not say whether he is a teacher.
DeBuksk says no students were involved or injured during the attack.
Students were dismissed from the school at 11:45 a.m., along with all other Knox County elementary students, due to weather.
DeBusk says the shooting happened in the area of the school office.
The victims were taken to UT Medical Center. Their identities and conditions have not been released.
The unidentified suspect was arrested about 15 minutes after the shooting, DeBusk says. He was quickly taken to police headquarters for questioning.
Police believe the alleged gunman acted alone, but DeBusk says it would be premature to discuss the shooter's motive.
Knoxville Police continue to interview school personnel who were inside the building at the time of the shooting.
