6-7 million??? What happened to $5.4 that was quoted in the first thread that got this ball rolling? Man, I want Gruden as much as the next guy (no homo) but $7 million?

Well if you take 100,000 fans at atleast $40 a pop times 5 home games thats 20 mill a year...not including anything else but ticket sales.

To me, the 7 million sounds pretty reasonable (now whether our boosters/atheletic department can afford it is another issue). If you're going to get Gruden, you're probably going to have to make him the highest paid college coach (which means over 6 million). That's what Alabama had to do with Saban and Gruden is that level of a coaching hire. Saban didn't have other pro teams knocking down his door, but you have to figure, with Gruden, there is the very real possibility he would be offered the Cowboys or Eagles or more pro HC jobs with owners willing to spend 7-8 million a year (or more) to hire him and give their fan base a big name and a Super Bowl winner.

There is talk that each SEC school will see an increase of 13 to 14 million dollars a year. This increase is due to the new playoff system and new tv contracts/network. Now I don't know if the revenue split has been determined, but The SEC stands to get a large chunk of change regardless. In the next few years, the coaches salaries will be considered investments, not expenses. The "It takes money, to make money" concept.
