Basilio was totally out of the dark in terms of Da'Rick, but is in the know in terms of the coaching search?
I mean I think this is a good blog and I actually believe a lot of what he is saying. regardless of how credible it is to me it sounds about how things would actually go in this kind of process.
Good stuff. To me, the biggest indication that Gruden is considering coming here is the fact that he hasn't squashed all the speculation going around. If it wasn't a possibility, then he would've come out and said so by now.
I've heard this referenced a few times, but I wasn't on any message boards until Kiffin left so I don't get it. What's up with Kiffin and his lexus?
It seems to me with Kentucky, Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia Tech and Purdue head jobs opening up, some of our assistants could be picked up to fill assistant positions on other staffs. Wouldn't this force the admin to show their hand?
It's most likely why they aren't, if they announce fired before seasons end, everyone may jump ship...
I thought active coaches couldn't be contacted until after the season. Obviously there would be stuff going on through some back channels (which I'm sure is already happening), but I don't see how a current coach would be contractually allowed to leave early.
Basically this is what was said.
Here's the truth. Dooley is done. This job will be Gruden's job to turn down when he gets an offer from UT. And I believe the offer will be in the 6-7 million dollars per year range. But here's where it gets tricky. Gruden won't get an offer until UT's point people in this search get EVERY INDICATION from Gruden that he won't say no. They simply won't give Gruden a chance to say no. And talking with some folks over the weekend, this is exactly the reason why Dooley is still there and didn't get fired after the Bama game. Here's how this thing is working. The major boosters are handling this. Hart has very little input in it. They've told him to sit tight and when it's time to work the deal, theyll bring him in. But they are not leaving the heavy lifting to him. That's why Jimmy Hyams can say over the weekend several times that Hart hasn't talked with anybody from Gruden's camp. Because he hasn't and he won't. That is until it's time to make a deal. I understand Dave Hart is upset about me reporting this stuff but I have to do my job.
