Another Government Shutdown Thread

goodness...needs to be shut down...

....added info from yesterday's discussion...these numbers (500,000 getting 2 checks & 5,000 dead people getting snap) only cover snap data red states sent in. About 21 blue states have not sent data in. Corruption in blue states is most likely worse when including illegals getting snap....data updated going from 5,000 to 186,000 dead people getting snap...

"Ever since the disaster of Obamacare was unleashed on the American public, our healthcare system has only gotten worse – except for the insurance companies, who bathed in massive profits thanks to their pal Obama. Some health insurance stocks are up 1,000 percent in the last 15 years, and even Obama’s cheerleaders at the New York Times called Obamacare a “blessing”!

This puts in the last piece of the puzzle as to why the Democrats dug in their heels so much on the longest shutdown in American history. The Democrats’ insistence on extending Obamacare subsidies is not some principled stand on behalf of any huddled masses yearning to breathe free: this is obstructionism to feed their donors’ profits.

The “follow the money” on this one is pretty straightforward. In the 2024 campaign, insurers gave five times more money to Kamala Harris than to Donald Trump. In the 2018 cycle, the industry gave 30 times as much to federal Democrat candidates as Republicans: $63 million to just $2.2 million."

This is the Democrats’ new playbook: pretend to champion the oppressed while cashing checks from the oppressors. Congressional Democrats were repaying their corporate donors by shutting down the government to keep $400 billion of taxpayer money flowing to insurance companies in Obamacare subsidies. Then of course that money comes back into Democrats’ coffers and the awful cycle keeps going."

Good to see the flyover back at the stadium and watch roughly 100 young adults get sworn in on the field.

The reaction for both and the roar when the crowd heard “I will obey the orders of the President of the United States” was great to see and hear. Sorry libs, football and America!

Lots of posts about Democrats’ actions and reasons, but the Republicans have all but surrendered health care costs to the Democrats for the 2026 election cycle because they have no strategy for them. Are you not disappointed? Wouldn’t it have been better to push through a 1year extension of expiring subsidies, shove that back at the Senate Democrats, and present a competing plan for the 2026 election cycle?

I’m baffled by Republican leadership at this juncture.

"The current federal workforce is costing American taxpayers $673,000 per minute, $40.4 million per hour and just under $1 billion per day, according to Open The Books. This includes almost 1,000 workers who are making more than the president's $400,000 per year salary, 31,452 non-War Department federal employees who made more than every governor of all 50 states and 793,537 people making $100,000 or more.

Those making $300,000 or more have seen an 84% increase since 2020, while there has similarly been an 82% increase in those earning $200,000 or more, the report points out. "

Here we go again....
The BBB funded a 4 year surge in ICE, so believe it would have to be a recission. It was very smart. Not that ICE would ever be on the table and only say that as it is a different process for any changed iirc.

Good luck Dems,
