Judge was Biden appointee that was former director of RI Planned Parenthood. I don't think any other explanation is needed...

The better question might be, why doesn’t the judicial and executive branches get together and neuter the legislative branch by “agreeing” that critical roles and benefits can be funded as long as there is revenue collections to pay. Judiciary and executive branches only need to agree what’s critical then the house and senate can posture all they want while we have effectively balanced the budget

As it was before a massive government safety net. People got by. Communities pitched in.

The big takeaway from the government shutdown is the federal government should be shrunk dramatically.

If your survival depends on 💩’s in Washington you’re SOL. What the government gives can easily be paused or taken away. Somebody like Chuck Schumer has your life on their hands. That’s what people are trying to make me believe anyway.

My understanding is the USDA administration already has a contingency fund that was supposed to be used but they chose not to. So basically playing politics..

So USDA had contigency for fund that would have covered a little more than half of Nov food stamps.

Trump admin was like "we can spend contingency fund the best way we see fit." (This contingency fund was to cover all of USDA, not just food stamps)

Judge was like "You will fund 100% of food stamps although the other 50% isnt appropriated."

Trump admin is clearly playing politics. Judge is clearly overstepping...

There is a EBT contingency fund that is just for EBT. established under 7 U.S.C. § 2027.

Seems doable. This is what I figured democrats would do. Trash the other nonsense and focus on health insurance. Republicans find themselves in a tough spot now. They cant say Dims aren't working to solve the problem and if they go with it they humanize themselves a bit (optics wise). No scenario plays out where the Republicans come out as the good guys on this one.

I honestly don't think its a terrible compromise. You give them an extension but it's not permanent. Of course who's to say this doens't happen again this time next year

Trump will somehow take credit for it because that is what he does. He will try to parlay it into a win with all credit given to himself to save face of his poor leadership. He will then take revenge on those who opposed his plan in the first place.

The man is destroying the Republican party and not as many will get behind him because he is coming to point a majority of his own party sees through him.

Key word. compromise. No one does that anymore. My way or the highway. BUT BUT The other guy did it!! yada yada yada. Thats why our elected officials get nothing done.

Mid Term elections tells you that it will not happen until after the election depending on the results. However this does take away all the using it to Campaign on. Probably will not fix much, but it will get some people in the Air Towers and those fed in need.
