Another Government Shutdown Thread

This isn't necessarily any kind of defense of Hegseth but that's not necessarily a true observation. The whole concept of the saying "It ain't bragging if you can back it up." is predicated on being a blowhard doesn't by definition exclude you from being a BA. (Ali comes quickly to mind)

I'm not a fan of the self-aggrandizing approach as I personally find it off putting but I can acknowledge there's been plenty of people that are quite legit but also more than happy to tell everybody about that being the case.
Being legit and stating so is an entirely different matter. That's not Hegseth. His actions don't ooze legitimacy

Yes indeed, we cannot afford healthcare for illegal aliens ...

From the article:

When Republicans pointed out that Democrats were unwilling to vote to fund the government without restoring health care eligibility for illegal aliens, the media and other Democrats jumped into action, “fact-checking” Republicans and claiming that wasn’t true.

... rescind Subtitle B in Title VII of the One Big Beautiful Bill. That section had narrowed the eligibility requirements for government health care benefits (like Medicaid), restricting eligibility for certain foreign nationals, such as the 2.8 million otherwise inadmissible aliens who received blanket parole into the United States from the Biden administration.

The Biden administration quietly dumped hundreds of thousands of Venezuelans and Nicaraguans into U.S. towns, sometimes by flying them into and around the country at night. Whatever “parole” distinction Biden officials gave them on paper, most Americans would consider those people illegal aliens. The same goes for the more than 1 million foreign citizens granted Temporary Protected Status by the Biden administration. Those are the people to whom Democrats want to give federal health care coverage by repealing Subtitle B.

Dems Mocked after gov’t shutdown Livestream Gets Only 400 Viewers: ‘Party of 18% approval and sinking’

House Democrats struggled to attract eyeballs to a livestream meant to rally the party faithful over the government shutdown — which at times drew only a couple of hundred viewers, despite a cast featuring some of their most charismatic members and top influencers.

In what was originally supposed to be a 24-hour stream from 2 p.m. Tuesday to 2 p.m. Wednesday, House Democrats took turns trying to blame Republicans for the partial government shutdown, which began at 12 a.m. Wednesday.

You want to see some of the most cringe footage ever broadcast then watch some of that.
