Another Government Shutdown Thread

Dems and GOPers who pay attention to politics already know what this is about, which is theater by both sides and which both sides think will benefit them. People posting here, in a politics forum on a college athletics site, already know who they think is "in the right," or more aptly, "less in the wrong," and both think the other is misrepresenting what its about.

In other words, the debate here is utterly irrelevant.

The question will be, who will average Americans who don't pay much attention to politics blame if things actually get affected by the shutdown. Ergo, the theater of the blame game we see playing out here.
Then what are you doing here?

The part that everybody is missing is that bypassing cloture takes a simple majority. If you want the input of the opposition party, keep it in place and negotiate with them. If you don't, vote to skip it and take the consequences.
Not missing that. The filibuster rule of the Senate helps to keep bad legislation from passing. Simple majority reduces the Senate to the same mob as the House.

Harry Reid (D) did away with cloture votes on judicial nominees and we got an idiot on the Supreme Court and progressive activists in the Federal judiciary. Hegseth is probably not the Secretary of War if the old rules were in place. Now we get extremist nominees approved by simple majority votes.

Yep Hegseth is so extreme. Can you believe he wants our military in shape and not confused by gender.

Talk about extreme

Yes.

Context.

The GOP is taking the destination of a sliver of the money and characterizing it ALL as going there.
.
Thats like saying that ALL of Trump’s money came from mortgage fraud when it was only a small part of it.
Well the true context isn't that the Dems want to protect anything. They want changes to law that was passed. And in that demand they want to include healthcare for noncitizens. They are lost. How many times do I have to deal with Trump bc you idiots can't understand how the majority of this country feels about money going to non citizens, open borders, and open sanctuary? Let me help your independent brain out. You will lose until you understand the American public is pissed about open borders and the extreme left embracing of everyone is whatever they want to identify as and you have to accept it

I agree they have lost touch with middle America and that unless they dramatically change course they'll never recover.

But they show no signs of changing course, in most cases they double down on insanity. Their hatred of Trump far outweighs their reasoning on the issues that the people truly care about.
