"Another" Elite 8 exit

Nothing embarrassing about getting beat by a team with (2) 7 footers and NBA talent all over the court and a team that is also the #1 Kenpom team of all time. Like always, the tourney is about the draw. There are multiple teams we could have played in the elite 8 which would have given us a MUCH better shot at getting a final 4 appearance, but we got a really touch matchup. One of these days, if you keep getting there, the matchup will break your way.

In a few days, we are gonna look at the Michigan loss like we did the Ohio State loss in football.

It wasn't that we were that bad. It was that Michigan was that good. They'll win the NC.

Certain teams like Michigan and Iowa just have more NIL money for basketball and are out recruiting us is what it comes down to. Danny and the boosters here at UT need to provide some more NIL money so we can get the type of players needed to get us to the Promised Land. I hope that White was watching and paying attention to what a Championship caliber team looks like in what Michigan did to us and help Barnes in providing with what we need in order to be a Number One seed and make a run at the Final Four next season.
Iowa is not. They caught lightning in a bottle as a 9 seed. Bennet Stertz just kept transferring with McCollum.

We have lost our last two elite eight matchups by a combined 53 points so yea we gonna get ridiculed for that. My co workers already hit me with the Rocky Flop ragging this morning at work. RB is a very good coach but in what 40 years of coaching almost he’s been to just one final four. It was an embarrassing loss yesterday for the whole world to see.

Absolutely ridiculous post by someone who is butthurt and clearly takes this stuff way too personally.

You may disagree, but I would much rather lose like we did yesterday, then like Duke did. I'd be looking for a tall building.....

In a heartbeat. My first thought after the Duke game was "lose by 35 or lose like that?".

We just got beat by a better team, a powerhouse playing their 'A' game, so it was easy to get to sleep. The way Duke lost is a sleep wrecker.

Not many really expected UT to beat Michigan, EE was best we could have expected.
I consider the season very well performance, better than most really expected. Good job Barnes and team!!

I don't know about everybody else, but I'm sick and damned tired of seeing headlines in the media referencing "another" Elite 8 loss "again." Exactly how many teams get TO the EE 3 years in a row? I much prefer to look at it as "No Final 4 YET."
Florida literally did exactly this. 3 in a row losses and then made final four. My goodness. Quit crying about the media. We are in the golden era and yall are being miserable.

My chagrin was greatly diminished by watching the Dookies have their comeuppance last night 💪🏼

Go Vols
So you’re saying with all the ballyhooed recruits Duke had this year (they were destined to the Championship game all year) and both Vols and Duke made it to the Elite Eight? 🤔🤔

Getting blown out in back to back Elite 8's is like getting dumped by Kate Upton and then start dating Sydney Sweeney to only have her ditch you too.

Neither are bad problems to have

I'm thrilled with the coach, with the program, and with the players. The only thing I'll add is that it seems Barnes can only get one elite player a year. To be fair, I'm sure he'd tell me, "Hey man, I'd love it if I could get two 5 stars but it aint easy," and I get it. But if the man is ever able to land two of the top players then we'll see that final four happen and he's right there at the door. It's super hard these days with NIL and the 5 stars all leaving after 1 year but he's in position to get that championship before he retires. I've watched UT basketball for 50 years and I'll take what we're getting these days all day long compared to what I watched for decades. God bless Rick Barnes, and God bless the great state of Tennessee. Go Vols.

Tennessee gets a bad rap for playing hard-nosed defense and, thus, gets mislabeled as bully ballers. We were in foul trouble before the ink dried on the bracket to begin with. Yesterday Estrella and Ament got racked on takeoff to the rim with no-calls. It seems Gillespie is always picking himself up off the floor after a layup. Ament (much like Vescovi in the past) gets held and beaten down on cuts off screens. It’s hard to overcome the bad press we get for our physicality that is getting dealt to our players equally and ignored.
I agree with most above but more guards penetrating and hitting layups go ahead and hit the ground as bracing for impact and landing hard while also changing direction to go back the other way is a lot of pressure coming down and results in more ankle and knee injuries. I believe that’s how zz tore his acl iir.
Plus if you are anybody but UT, you get a foul or two on it per game.

I guess I’d be disappointed as well, but y’all’s team has consistently been a very good team 3 years in a row! It could be worse, Mike White could be your coach.😂

White has gotten us much better, but a decent shot at making the tournament might be our ceiling under him. Still, it’s better, but nowhere near the level of y’all’s team.
