I know this has been done before, but I wanted to post another one with only the most discussed candidates from VN.

The names I'm hearing the most are:

Jon Gruden: ESPN, Tampa Bay (NFL), Oakland (NFL)
Scott Frost: UCF
Dan Mullen: Mississippi State
Lane Kiffin: Florida Atlantic, USC, Tennessee, Oakland (NFL)
Matt Campbell - Iowa State, Toledo

I know there are others, but these are the names I'm hearing the most on this site. It's not my list or my top 5. I'm trying to be as unbiased as possible.

If your #1 is not on this list, go ahead and pick the one you like the most and comment your #1 choice.

EDIT: This is strictly based on what I've seen discussed on VolNation. I have no inside information.

Just in the different threads I frequent... Nothing from outside of VN. This is strictly based on what I've heard here.

I purposely left off some big names that would be on my personal Top 5 (Kelly, Petrino, ect) because I just haven't heard much about them lately.

BillSnyder as HC with Spurrier as OC. The geritol staff. That way we can end that atrocious piped in music and return to band music during games. Provide us oldie season ticket holders ear relief. LOL

You should redo the poll with no Gruden since nearly everyone wants him #1. Surely you already knew that?

I know a lot of people want him, but I've seen just as many who say it's not a possibility. There are also people who don't want him at all (believe it or not) due to his lack of experience at the college level.

And Johnny Majors returns with 1 year of college eligibility and plays halfback.

I actually used to respect Spurrier for his ability and frankness, but now he's just a quitter to me. Bill Snyder would be awesome if he was still 50.

I went with Mullen. I got no good reason why, just seems the most likely imo.

Considering Gruden is off the board, I think Mullen would be the best choice of the remaining 4. I think JG would benefit greatly from Mullen since he knows what he is doing with QBs (unlike Canales). I'd like to see our lines nastier and that's a hallmark of Mullen teams. My only concerns with Mullen are recruiting wise..

He wasn't on the poll, but I would like to see what Petrino could do here. (I know about his personal issues off the field, but I just want UT to win at this point) Considering how well he did at Arkansas, I think he would be able to do great things at Tennessee. (With the help of a great defensive coordinator though)

No Chip Kelly? 2nd most likely coach according to Vegas. I would prefer him over Gruden.

Went with Mullen. I am assuming he is #2 on the Currie's list after Gruden (who we are making him tell us "no" yet again. The ONLY reason I see him leaving Starkvegas is the chance to go to SEC Title game. He's been there long enough. As long as he can average 7-5 he has a $4M/yr job for life. Would you risk that for the "promise" of a championship and an extra mil or two? No? I think if you are driven by the challenge, then yes! MSU is mediocrity purgatory. I know he supposed turned FL down when the hired McElwain because his wife didn't like to do her shopping on Jortland. Matt Campbell has done great at IA State and Toledo, but he seems to risky given his $9M buyout. I don't see Big Jim footing the bill for that.

The fact that more people want Lane Kiffin as coach over Matt Campbell is just beyond baffling. You never fail to disappoint Volnation.
