Another blowout vs. USC?

Don't bet on it. Vols need to have some leadership, more patience and more drive to the basket and a better percentage at the charity stripe. Probably 75%:yes:
Vols will need better than 35% from 3 point land and hit 45% from the field. How long has it been since they've had this kind of percentage?

It's been a long, long time, the Pitt game to be exact.

Sounds like the boys better find their 3-pt stroke or we could be in trouble. If Hopson shoots like he did vs. Pitt I think we win. If Hopson/Tatum struggle from 3 we lose.

If hopson will just score 20+ points like we know he is capable of doing then we will win.

The good news we'll be ready. They blew us out last year, they're a "name" team, and they took Kansas to the wire last week.

Also, the staff and players don't want to lose a third straight.

So the coaches and players will be completely focused on this one, and USC will likely get our best effort.

With that said, though, effort doesn't control shooting, and USC will dare us to shoot. Our two strengths are drawing fouls and getting offensive rebounds; unfortunately, USC's two strengths are that they don't foul, and they always box out. Kevin's team is going to play disciplined defense...that's what he does.

USC's defensive weakness is the three-pointer, but we probably don't want to rely on that. We'll still take our share, because we're going to have to. If they go in early, we probably win easily. If they don't, could be a long night.

Finally, our defensive weakness is the 4 spot. Tobias is a talented young man, but he's a freshman and sometimes plays like one, especially on the defensive end. USC has two good big men, so this is a serious concern.

So, easiest road to victory is we get hot from outside. Second is if Scotty takes over, like he did against Nova and Pitt. Beyond that, it's a dogfight, and will probably come down to the last possession.

Why not put Maymon at the 4 and play Harris at the 3? At this point that looks like it may be our best lineup. Tatum could then come in for Hopson and Harris with Hall helping out for Maymon and Fields for Williams.

I don't know if I'd bench Tatum...he's actually been one of the more consistent options on the team thus far.

What I'd do, though, is let Harris and Maymon both have about 5 minutes at the 3 backing up Tatum, if we think they can guard that position. This would leave 20 each at the 4, and 30 minutes for Tatum at the 3.

I don't want this to be another disappointing effort from our fanbase. If you can make it out to the game tonight then do it, I know I will be there cheering on our Vols.
