Early rumors are that the GT athletic director is trying to get this game into Mercedes Benz Stadium for a max ticket draw as well. Bobby Dodd only holds 52k people and the Dome holds 72K. That would be a win for us for sure in my book.Next year if we have 5 conference home games and Vandy on the road we will only have 3 true road games all year. Ga tech in Atlanta will be vol heavy.
Hope George is ready.
That actually makes a ton of sense. Coaches dont have any need to even run the starters for a half or win by a lot. I guess the downside would be that they arent making their money back with a packed house, but then they could actually charge a little for a spring game. You'd think theyd make up the lost revenue from the extra SEC game. But yeah I love that idea.My hope is, as they do away from the Spring portal, is that those buy games for FCS will become preseason games.
You are correct. Which is why it was silly to even have competitive balance as a metric or goal. Preserve rivalries and everything else will work itself out.Again, you all keep saying we get an "easy" draw, but all it does is leave more "difficult" teams to fill out the rest. We're going to get them anyway. Just like the teams with "hard" draws are going to get "easy" teams anyway.
With six additional games there will be no easy path. It's extremely simple math.
Every team got at least two, some 3 rivalry games. What in the world are you talking about???
You don't understand that is the best they could do with 16 teams. Also, Kentucky and Vanderbilt are more of a rivalry than Florida, it was the 90's before we started playing Florida yearly. Been playing Vanderbilt and Kentucky Much Longer! Us older fans know who are our true rivalry games are.Vanderbilt and Kentucky are not rivals. They are teams we beat up on every season. The only rivalries Tennessee has are with Florida, Georgia, and Alabama. Those should have been our 3 permanent opponents. And they should have kept LSU/Florida and LSU/Alabama as rivalries.
Absolutely pathetic what the SEC just did.
You should boycott all SEC sports in protestVanderbilt and Kentucky are not rivals. They are teams we beat up on every season. The only rivalries Tennessee has are with Florida, Georgia, and Alabama. You already were told why you are wrong and why this happened and you still double down on ignorance.Vanderbilt and Kentucky are not rivals. They are teams we beat up on every season. Huh? We already know when we play all 3 of those teams home and away. They’re not going to change it. We play Vandy at home and UK and Bama on the road this year. That will flip next year.As a life long Vol fan I love this for two reason:
1. We keep games that mean a lot to our fans.
2. It should be consistently easier than other permanent opponents would be.
I hope we play either Kentucky or Bama on the road the same year we play Vandy away. That will give us 5 home games a year after we paint Nashville orange.
