Annual Opponents Bama, Vandy, and UK

They got it right for every team. The other 6 rotation games will be very tough. 7-2 conference record might put a team in championship, 6-3 would be very good. We've had a break in the schedule this year and last. Not anymore

Has there been anything about how the rotation will work? Will it just be two sets of 6 that will rotate every year? I think it should be a group of 3 that you play back to back seasons alternating home/away, and another group of 3 that would play every other year alternating.

Year 1 : Arkansas, Florida, Georgia / LSU, Miss St, Ole Miss
Year 2 : Arkansas, Florida, Georgia / SCar, Texas, A&M
Year 3 : Auburn, Missouri, Oklahoma / LSU, Miss St, Ole Miss
Year 4 : Auburn, Missouri, Oklahoma / SCar, Texas, A&M

All I know is that they said ever team will play everyone in the conference every two years besides the yearly opponents.

Now bring back the beer barrel darn it
For this to happen, fans will have to paint up a replica and exchange it outside of the stadium as a private fan group thing. I don’t think the schools will ever do the barrel after the drunk Kentucky players died.

This is great for us but if we need end the streak in the Swamp this year, Heupel needs to be tarred and feathered

No one really escapes... but UT did better than most. Vandy or UK may advance to the middle of the SEC but for now those are all but automatic wins. They're kind of at a high water mark with the current coaches. When those two are gone, it could become a much bigger advantage. Games where you can get a margin then give your starters some downtime.

Bama and Vanderbilt sharing all three permanent rivals:

I heard that the SEC "one tough game" OOC requirement is still in effect as well which means every SEC team is having to dump 1 G5/FCS game and now can only schedule 2 of those per year at the Maximum without an exception.
I’ll give you a hint: everyone is going to keep the FCS game.

Your post right below this indicates the opposite unless you are stating they will trade a G5 for an FCS team. Both are about the same.
Yes. They will have to choose who to get rid of out of any previous G5-G5-FCS game arrangement.

They’ll all choose to keep playing 1 FCS team and 1 G5 team.

I know some rival fans will claim we “lucked out” but the picks just make sense. We are the Super Bowl for Kentucky, Vandy is literally a state rival, and they aren’t giving up the Bama-Tennessee matchup. I hate the Lizards and Puppies but it makes since to have these three schools.

We will see the Lizards and Puppies pretty often anyways. People act like we won't play them again. There is a huge chance that at least one of them will be on next year's schedule (maybe both).

Nice.

Arkansas, aTm, and Oklahoma have brutal yearly matchups. All 3 teams will be ranked opponents most years...including Texas which will be a top10 team most of the time now that theyre in the SEC to go with their unlimited millions.

We got a better draw than most. Will be favored to win 2 out of 3 pretty much every year and bama is beatable these days. I think Arkansas is the team that got hosed the worst honestly...strongest schedule vs weakest program.

LSU looks pretty easy, too.

Arkansas dealt a bad hand.

Arkansas will go O-3 most years against those programs.
.

Is the new schedule going to prevent other out of conference rival games?

Like Scar and Clemson? Or, UF / Miami and FSU?
Good question bud.
We will see. They will look like sissies if they cancel....but facing a 9 game brutal SEC schedule and trying to make the playoffs it isnt smart to use up 1 of the 3 open dates on your schedule against an in state rival thats gonna be another ranked opponent more years than not IMO. I hope they both keep the games though. Will make it harder for them to make the playoffs and easier for us.

No. Everybody still has to play 1 Power 4 team or Notre Dame OOC. Every team has to play 10 Power 4 games . Time for the B1G and Curt Cignetti to sack up after all their offseason talk.

I would like to see a scheduling agreement between the SEC and B1G each the way the ACC and SEC has the challenge in basketball.

We will play six other SEC games next year besides Alabama, Kentucky, & Vandy, and have five conference home games (Alabama, Kentucky, and 3 others)
In 2027 we;ll play the six SEC teams we didn't play in 2026 and three of those will be on the road, so we'll only have four conference home games (Vandy and 3 others).
In 2028 we'll play the same teams we play in 2026, but the six rotating opponents will be flip-flopped home and away, so we'll have five conference home games (Alabama, Kentucky, and the three teams we played on the road in 2026).
In 2029 we'll play the same opponents as we did in 2027 and have four conference home games (Vandy plus the three opponents we played on the road in 2027).

Oh for sure, I understand people wanting to have them as an annual opponent but now in theory we could play UGA for the conference championship if both teams make it there. The Gators will need a new coach to be a real threat but yeah, even without any showdowns in Atlanta we would still play those teams at least every other season. Maybe we will draw one of them in 2026 and the other in 2027, maybe both next season.

I have a weird feeling we’ll draw Texas next season but we’ll see. I’d love to stomp them and then refer to them as UT Jr.

I think they missed on a couple but may not have been possible to make it all fit otherwise.

For example, one of Vanderbilt's other opponents should be Ole Miss instead of Miss St. Vandy and Ole Miss have played more than LSU/FLorida as some have suggested should be permanents. Also, Miss State is Auburn's most played opponent but not a permanent - even more than Bama.

But likely wasn't possible to make all the math work out.

Next year if we have 5 conference home games and Vandy on the road we will only have 3 true road games all year. Ga tech in Atlanta will be vol heavy.

Hope George is ready.

We got a good draw. We have lost to Georgia 9 straight years so that was almost an automatic loss for us yearly and we haven’t had much success against Florida since 2005. I definitely ain’t too upset seeing those guys get taken off the annual schedule.

We got Screwed with UK over FL. I think the SEC did Kentucky a favor because Tennessee is all they got and they felt bad for them
